Well, here's a little fluffy I wrote for a friend.  There is a ton of editing to be done, but you'll get the idea.  Ending is a bit abrupt...I'm going to shut up now; I could keep commenting forever...  The best part is that there are no character names, so you can fill in your favorite pairing!  Feedback is greatly appreciated.  Hope you enjoy it!

A Fluffy for Jas

She stood alone watching the weather report on the television about the wind storm, wringing her hands in anxiety.  The information was anything but encouraging: random jargon and complex charts that no one really understood.  She had been praying non-stop since the storm had suddenly risen without warning.  She had grown up with the tornadoes and high winds, and they had never fazed her.  She was overwhelmingly afraid of them for the first time.  She now had more cause to worry.  He was still out there; driving, of all things!  She knew there was no way her significant other could have known, none of them could, but she worried just the same.

The noise around her was causing her head to pound and the wind echoing outside the emergency shelter put her more and more on edge.  The light tug on her hair was...wait, huh?...Great.  Now I'm imagining things.  She checked the forecast yet again, not really expecting anything, and put her head in her hands.  "Please, let him be alright," she murmured.

There was another yank on her hair and this time she knew it wasn't her imagination.  The kids in the shelter have been restless for a while now, she thought.  This must be an attempt to get a reaction from me to entertain them.  She decided to beat them at their own game and not give them the satisfaction of a reaction of any kind.  Normally, she would be the first to whip around and surprise the kids and laugh with them.  It was one of their favorite things to do together.  She dropped back into her worries again.  If he hadn't gone, she thought miserably, we would probably be doing that now.

"That idiot," she said aloud.  "If anything happens to him, I'll..." She stopped and began to tremble.

"You'll what?"  There was a voice behind her that she knew, but in her distress she couldn't make the connection instantaneously like she usually did.  "What will you do to me?"  As he spoke, it clicked.

She turned and nearly collapsed when she saw him.  He was standing there with the familiar sheepish grin that made her melt.  She gave him a quick once-over to assess the expected damage.  His jeans and gray hooded sweatshirt were disheveled, but there were no holes or rips to suggest a fall.  His baseball cap was covering extremely windswept hair.  She guessed he had had it in the backpack that was slung over his right shoulder.  No serious injuries if he could handle that load.  He was standing easily in his favorite Nike tennis shoes, which were untied.  That eliminated major leg problems.  His hands were occupied holding the backpack strap on his right and his jeans' pocket on the left.  She breathed a sigh of relief; he wasn't holding them like he would to cover a wound.  This complete and thorough assessment took two seconds at most.  She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly.

"I'm so glad you're alright!" she cried. "Don't scare me like that; I was so worried!"  He brought his arms around her, and they embraced tightly in relief for an extended time.  She waited to be released; not that she minded it, it was just odd for him to show this kind of affection.  He gave her much affection, but he usually gave it in small amounts; he was shy and didn't express his emotions like this.

"Are you going to let go of me?"  she teased.

"No." The reply was so swift and definite it startled her.  She'd expected one of two responses: a flustered "Oh! S-sorry." or a playful "Mmmmmmm...no."

"I can't let go of you again."  She chuckled nervously, her heart pounding.  This wasn't normal, so what...of course!  He must be really playing up their normal banter.

"Don't you think that's a little extreme?" she said, playing along.

"No."  She froze; he was really convincing. But that intensity...doubt started to infiltrate.

"And why is that?" she asked in a normal tone.  She felt him stiffen, and then shake ever so slightly.  At that moment, she knew: this sure as heck wasn't acting.  She heard him take a deep breath and say,

"Because I..."  A few seconds passed and the only sound was of the background variety.  She had never seen him like this.

She leaned back so she could see his face, which he was hiding well in the shadow of the baseball hat's bill.  He loosened his grip, slightly, but did not let go.  Gently, she brought her hand to his face.

"Why?" she repeated softly and guided him to look her in the eyes.  He couldn't meet her gaze; his face flushed and he bit his lip.   Then he slowly lowered his head and whispered in her ear,

"Because I love you."  She was stunned: he used the L-word.  When they started dating, they had decided to not use the L-word unless they were absolutely certain they truly meant it.  It had lost its meaning in today's world because it was over-used.

"Why today? Why not yesterday or tomorrow?"

"Because yesterday is gone and tomorrow isn't guaranteed."

"You know that's not what I meant.  What's different about today?"

Taking a deep breath, he straightened up and, with steely determination, he locked his eyes on hers.

"Because," he said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, "you have been the only thing in my mind since this storm started.  When the storm hit and the weather reports talked about the worst of it being here, and I turned around and went straight back the way I had come. The entire time I could only think of you. People usually have fleeting thoughts keeping them aware of their surroundings and actions.  I can't remember anything that happened during that time.  I wasn't aware of anything else until I saw you.  All I could think was I have to..."  He faltered for a moment, then, slowly bringing her closer, "...protect her."

She was engulfed in another tight hug while she was momentarily speechless.  She wasn't really surprised by his words; it was just that she couldn't believe that the joking, carefree, quiet guy she had come to adore and the strong, open, passionate man holding her now were one and the same.  She never doubted his emotions, but this was the first time he had ever...done something like this!  His words were usually few and he'd never held her as if he might never see her again.  Her thoughts were interrupted by a kiss.

Suddenly, the howling winds that had caused her so much anxiety soothed her like a light breeze.  She was grateful for the storm, because it had created the scene in which her knight could go above and beyond to show his love.

"I love you, too," she said quietly.  She had a feeling that things were going to be better than ever after the storm.  No, things were incredible now because of the storm.  The destructive, feared, and powerful force of nature had done something unexpected of it: amongst its violent winds, it had brought true love.

The End

O.O That was sweet, XD
And you're an awesome writer. *is jealous*
it was cool how you sort of gave it a theme (storms?) and how you worked that into your descriptions. I really liked your last sentence, I thought it was a good ending note.
I hope you post up more. ^__^

Oh wow.. so they're iphone earpods? Wait, I mean, earrings! No! EARPHONES!!! I MEANT EARPHONES!
If you're reading this, then good for you. :3

Nicole

Awwwww, thanks! *glomp*

Actually, the premise and some of the details came from a dream I had...[yes, I was the protagonist...] I could get so many great stories and designs if I could remember them and sketch them properly! XD

I'd like to see a little something from you, Tammy... ;)

Yume

That was sweet, I like how you rounded it off actually even though it was a bit hurried. ^^ (And lol the "L-word". XD)

werr

That was nice :)

I personally find it rather diffilcult to write a fanfic from a manga or movie... I usually write fics for books.

Btw do you know fanfiction.net ?

Nicole

Thank you everyone; you are very kind!

@werr- yeah!  I'm actually an unofficial beta to a couple of authors.  do you have fanfics there?

I have writen a few one shots, but they are still on my hard drive :P
And also I started a couple of months ago writing a large one (expecting it to be around 150k words...)
It's about Eragon (book 4, since the author hasn't finished it)

Sure... it's just that... err... I am not really good at putting my thoughs to paper o_O
I can, in a matter of a week, develop a whole book inside my head if I have enough free time to think...
I have though up hundreds of smaller stories, most of which I no longer remmeber... when I go to sleep I am usually thinkins a story. I am best at short romance stories although I can sometime, just like a mangaka o_O, add new stuff and strech them until they become like "The beautiful and the bold"...
Aka: I have only a few written stories that meet my expectations :D

Ohh, and I find it a bit annoying to write... I prefer to use my wild imagination... to bad there isn't some kind of machine that reades your thoughs and puts them in a .txt file ^^

And that's why I can't be a writer. Because the one thing I can't do well IS requered for a writer.

*slaps werr with a fish*

Now I don't want to hear that kind of talk!  I have the same problem.  Here's what helps me :bingo:: I write EVERYTHING down; it could be a sentence structure, a plot twist, a character description, funny quip...you should see the margins of my class notes or random pages in my notebook!  :=X:  I never sit down and start writing a story.  I sit and gather all my notes and make them legible; then it's as easy as cut and paste!  Once everything's in order, go back and start connecting the dots.  When you get stuck on something, write a little note to yourself so you won't forget.  Leave it alone every so often and come back fresh; it works wonders!

I dread the blank sheet in front of me, so I fill it up and it's not so intimidating.  Then I can edit to my heart's content [which is what I need to do with this one]!  And I use the notes thing for everything!  It's gotten to the point where I can't go anywhere without something to write on; and I'm usually found with a pencil stuck in my ponytail, lol.  I even jot down things like a genre I've been meaning to read or something to look up.

So don't tell me you can't or you'll get smacked upside the head with a fish again!  :wahaha:  Feeeeesh! [idk where that came from...]

Yeah i do that too, other wise I wouldn't be able to remmeber 80% of the stuff in me head o_O

QuoteLeave it alone every so often and come back fresh; it works wonders!
Hmm... I don't know but maybe I should try it out. I am having this kind of problem: Let's say i need to write a dialogue between Eragon and Arya right before some battle... If I start thinking on what to write without having something to actually record it I do come up with a good dialogue, but later I am unable to reproduce it on paper... And even if I try to come up with it again even if sligtly different I just can't... my brain just... Urgh! That's why sometimes when I am walking or whatever and Start having a good idea I stop thinking about it until I get a pen :D
