But might not want to wait, for it will undoubtedly be twice as expensive if not more.

Sharwin

Only BlueTooth? I can't stand a phone that doesn't have WiFi and at least a 453x320 screen.

How do you know I didn't mean wait till then to buy the 3GS? They will "undoubtably" drop the price on it within the month of release. Also if your going to buy a 32GB then yes it will probably be 400$ or more but for the 16GB I doubt they would go over 300$.
You were right about me being wrong and wrong about you being right.

Not sure why there are lots of people who know some about CS, but it is definitely a useful course of study. There are tons of employers hiring for it (at least here in the US) so I would argue that it is a good choice :bingo:

charmy

@werr whoaa. i think maybe cause i'm used to my nokia 6120c and my prepaid card that i dont expect those. hahahaha.

@p911gt3 lol and i was still worrying i wont be able to get as many job opportunities as other courses. HAHAHA. i'm relieved. :P

@sharwin lolols!!! are there so many people from CS here? what exactly do you all do in that course!  ???
Computer Science is quite broad and there is a ton of stuff in it. Some CS include disciplines of algorithms, artificial intelligence, database management, software design, code optimization, security, graphics processing and lots of other stuff. If anything... Programming is kind of the fundamentals of CS and you get learn how it applies to all these different things.

Some of the things you learn can be quite amazing. I'm actually taking artificial intelligence next term, and I hope it's fun... But I heard it's hard ;x

What do you guys think of the Ipad??
Oh you mean the iTampon owait xD...
Honestly it looks like a giant iPod Touch. The problem is finding where it fits in. iPod Touch is portable. Netbook has everything to be a super portable PC. Though iPad seems to be lacking quite a bit to justify the size of it. For me... I think the iPad would be a decent video game player (inside your house) or watching a video while lying down or something.

i think nice to have, but not worth to buy. at first you might think, hey that's cool. then after while you realise that you dont actually really need it.  maybe if it was more like a computer, then it'll be more useful. that's what i think.

i just hope that i will be able to familiarize myself with the programming languages = contant practicing/studying = dead if i still dont know @.@ artificial intelligence sounds cool :D

Once you learn the premise or the basis of how to program, it's pretty easily applied across multiple languages. The only difference is the syntax and maybe each language has some special stuff it's better at :P... Though once you kind of have that programming mind, it's not that bad to learn a new language xD.

xdeathcat

LOL AI. Which language?

Ipad seems useless. It's a cool netbook toy. And does practically nth beyond that.
Because I disappearS to procrastinateS.

In my opinion I think the best place to start would be to grab a DATA STRUCTURES book that deals with an object oriented language like C# or JAVA. This will have many advantages over starting in other places but the biggest advantage is this:

You will understand how data structures are implemented in memory and and how to implement them in the language. But you also will be able to know why you should choose one data structure over another for the programs you write.

This is my personal opinion but it might not be completely correct, but it is based on my professional experience and my educational experience. At work I notice that many of the software engineers I work with know this material but don't always apply it properly, which causes some of their programs to be sub optimal. Many times simply changing the structure of their data would save many clock cycles and allow the program to run much more quickly.
The reason I recommended an object oriented language is because most of the work I do professionally is done in an OOPL (whether or not the engineers decide to make the code object oriented is another story lol) and having understanding of how to make object oriented code will be immensely helpful to you in your career.

After reading a data structures book, continue on with a book on whichever language you like because now it should only be syntax that you need to learn for other languages. That is the easy part  :=X: If you got a book on object oriented programming, that would help you learn more ways to utilize object oriented code, and why it is beneficial.

Again I would like to remind you that this is only my opinion, but I feel that if I were to start now, that is how I would start.

Good luck with your studies. If you need any help, I am sure all of us CS people would be happy to help :)

P.S. maybe check out this book  ISBN 0-672-32453-9   or a similar one.

If you cannot find what you are looking for, I would look on Amazon or some E-tailer, and if not let everyone here know. I am sure we can find a way to get you what you need to be successful.

:hmmm: maybe I will just have to tutor you in conjunction with the other CS majors here on the forum  :=D:

Not sure if you would like that though...lol

charmy

hoho alright! i wouldn't mind that!  :goodjob: but of course i'll try to learn on my own first, wouldn't want to impose too much on you kind people. and i'll probably ask about this somewhere else. hahaha this is getting off the introduction topic! lol.

maybe i'll go to the libraary next week instead. results are out on friday. *nervous* haha.
