I liked that book too (:
I cried too, thankfully I read at home so no one could see me cry, however I believe the majority of my school has seen me cry because I tend to get emotional with my books.

& this week, oddly enough, I was able to finish Clockwork Angel, The Second Short Life of Bree Tanner, and Sweet Love Lies. I rarely am able to finish 3 books in a week. Usually it takes me around a month ever since I started high school.

& as for Dan Brown, I read a few of his books. Though, I sort of get bored by them sometimes...

i mean...there's one for twilight!

there is a parody for harry potter.
but for twilight i'm not sure.

the harry potter one i read two years back? O_O

michelle: bree tanner :( short second life :( read it too

the parody: Barry Trotter is a series of Harry Potter parodies written by Michael Gerber and published in the UK in a small hardback format uniform to the new edition of Bored of the Rings. The series to date comprises Barry Trotter and the Shameless Parody (Barry Trotter and the Unauthorized Parody in the United States), Barry Trotter and the Unnecessary Sequel and Barry Trotter and the Dead Horse. The narrative features the adventures of "Barry Trotter", "Lon Measly", and "Ermine Cringer" who attend the "Hogwash School for Wizardry and Witchcrap". It features strong postmodern metanarrative, as the book concerns their attempts to prevent the making of a movie, but the entire story is revealed to have been a movie itself, which in turn is shown to be a novel being written by Barry Trotter.

it was funny.
I like reading. I love manga. I love good things(:

icewing

heh? i thought there was one called Nightlight. xD

Michelle

Just finished Wanted in the PLL series.
It was an ok ending, not too satisfying in my opinion. I felt it was too rushed. Like there were eight books but in between was just a bunch of fillers to make us wonder who was the mystery person. Also, they left the ending a bit open. I wonder if the author will have like a "sequel" of the series. Like with the private series it branched off to privileged.

Disturbance

Private...there's another new book right? saw it in bookstores yesterday
I like reading. I love manga. I love good things(:

Michelle

I am not sure..there probably is. I can never keep track with all of the book series I am reading.

icewing

Michelle

Finished Rules of Attraction, it was horrible. First of all, it was practically the same thing as its first book, I wouldn't be surprised if the author just changed the names. Secondly, the two characters are supposed to fall in love, but in the first half they despised each other and in a second they loved each other. There were some subtle hints that showed their true feelings, but there were only a few. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible.

And I am reading It is Kind of a Funny Story, I feel like there is a movie named after it. But it is super confusing, and uninteresting so I think I might stop reading it if it doesn't get any better.

meh...i want to read A Brave New World soon...YESH BREAK IS COMING SOON!

litoxpinky

My break started :D ! I just finished reading Full Dark, No Stars (many of reasons why I am up at 2 am in the morning)! You know, though I am keeping watch over my house in the night for scary noises because of that book, I liked it. Stephen King is one of those writers, that while you are reading, you don't necessarily analyze (unless you take breaks from reading) the content until after reading. Which is a lot of rumination..

Disturbance

Still in the midst of papers.....
Am turning to reading comic books.
I like reading. I love manga. I love good things(:

litoxpinky

I finished reading "The Man Who Ate The 747", and I thought it was a bit cliche at times, but I guess that's because I read too many romance articles haha. And a bit of "Let the Right One In"!...which is a lot darker than the movie, which is already pretty dark >__>

I think I'm going to put that down and start reading Wuthering Heights or Water For Elephants!

icewing

WOOOO I'M ON A NEW BOOK! THE....CANTERBURY TALES!!  :swt:  yep...by chaucer...

and my dear book -_- Prey...creepy sci fi?

@Greta - I've never heard of the first six, but Mockingjay?! :O I read that weeks ago and am so irritated and confused by it!! Grrr D:< . I think the author tried to rush and destroy the series at the same time.

I finished reading Water for Elephants guys! :D The book is a-mazing ?. If you don't want to read it, the movie is coming out later this year lol.

Greta

you don't know these? D: really?
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak <-- The Messenger's also written by him
Shadow Kiss - Richelle Mead - Vampire Academy :D
Mr Monster - Dan Wells <-- 'kay if you don't read thrillers...
Before I fall - Lauren Oliver - you really have never heard anything about it? :o
Shadow Prowler by Alexey Pehov

Oh actually I do know the book thief now that I hear the author LOL. He's such a good writer <3 I love all of his characters, even the baddies XD.

Everything else, nope. The only vampire book I've read is twilight and let the right one in (currently reading).
Uhh, Gale doesn't kill Prim necessarily..but erm, yeah when you read it, I think it's very rushed. And everything gets confusing early on, so it's confusing until the end! I know they're in a war and in battle too, but the author just cuts off so many of the characters and leaves them at death and that's it. What's the point when there are like twenty pages left to have everyone die! D: Idk. that might just me and my obsession with happy endings...
You have to read the other ones first! :O!! The only character I love through the whole mess even in the end is Peta, and he's BARELY in mockingjay. I only finished the book to see what would happen to Peta :<. If he didn't exist, I would've dropped that book and save me a good hour or two...

Let the Right One In is fantastic! If you want to watch the movie watch the original Swedish one. The American one sucked balls, you know, like how EVERY American remake pales in comparison to the original.

Golly, it's been aaaaages since I read Eldest. eeep! I should really re-read that series XDDDD

I just finished the Mortal Instruments books (well, first 3 - since another ones due to be released soon) aaaand I read the first book in Infernal Devices cuz apparently the 4th book in Mortal Instruments makes references to the characters in the first book of Infernal Devices. Has this series been talked about yet? I sorta didn't read the middle 9 pages of this thread ^^;;;; ehehe...

anyhow, I really like it so far.

I also recently read Fallen and Torment. Anyone read these yet?

Im finding Nephilim a nice shift away from Vampires!  :=X:

@Arya: I've read the first two Mortal Instruments books and Jace is literally my favourite male supernatural. (Because Holden Caulfield wins the cake for male human). The books are so so funny. I have the first Infernal Devices book as well and I've tried reading it so many times but get a little bored about five pages in. I'll start it properly in Summer. I'll probably love it once I give it a chance- I was the same way with The Hunger Games.

I'm reading Paranormality by Richard Wiseman at the minute. It's so good. He goes through and exposes just how stupid and gullible people who believe in stuff like psychics, ghosts, fortune tellers, horoscopes and mediums etc. really are. And it's surprisingly pretty funny.

Anybody have anything good for me to read once I'm done? I'll read anything as long as it's not about vampire love. The only vampire thing I've read and actually liked are The Southern Vampire Mysteries because Sookie's a really strong protagonist and Eric and Pam are hilarious. Every other stupid, sappy, idiot main character in vampire novels makes me want to be sick on my own face.

I read Twilight, to justify my hatred, and it really was just as shit as Alex Day said it was in his Chapter reviews on Youtube, which, if you haven't seen, you are MISSING OUT ON: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2L253VLwH3w

LOL, JACE = Best BA male lead in book ever XD
Before I stopped reading, that one was a long-time favorite. lol, and now them adults with lollipops ask me "Lily, do you like reading? :D" and I just stutter out a yes and then run away. Silly how I stopped reading after this manga stint started.
But hey, manga is books...

Aw, I really didn't like the ending to the trilogy (mortal instruments), Riz. *whispers* Jace looses his bad-assomeness. D:
It was a fun read until the last couple of pages, and then I started plotting that woman's murder.

litoxpinky

I adore too many male leads to pick one! (This year, I meet John Proctor ?). I have a list of books I need to borrow for over vacation and catch up on my reading. Started reading A Northern Light, and then realized I read it already lol. A wonderful novel to read to explore the gift of words and voice. Weaver's a-mazing!

I also recommend The Girl With a Pearl Earring and Les Miserables if you haven't read them. I don't like vampire stories much unless it's rather dark or uber sexy. The kind vampire just doesn't cut it >:(!

Although you know, some stories are only interesting and mesmerizing if you read them at a certain age. I read Twilight when I was 12 - 14, and Edward was the bomb. I was looking through the books yesterday though, and Meyer writes very simple-like and I don't appreciatate it as I did 4 to 2 years ago.

haha, I've read both books, and they're brilliant! I especially fell in love with TGWaPL (lol, what a crappy abbreviation) Even though nothing happened in that book, there were just certain parts that made me cry...Which I don't think was the expected reaction. The only thing I do that's WORTHWILE (uh, I do a lot of yawning and reading spoilers) when I read or watch something is cry XD
Hm, I haven't read a good vampire story in a while, though lots of good vamp manga! <3

I think we all feel that way about Twilight now. It deserves an award for largest cult to dissipate in a matter of weeks.

Ryu

Vampires...  :hmmm:
I suggest trying The Mortal Instruments series then. It's moderately dark and has some romantic parts. XD

riz-i

i loved The Girl With A Pearl Earring. I haven't read Les Mis but my friend and I are going to go see it this Summer :)
Mortal Instruments is definitely worth it. But apparently you have to read The Infernal Devices Book One to understand City of Angels -_-

oh Twilight. why are you written as though by an immature teenager, edited with a CGP KS3 Revision Guide?
oh yeah, because Stephenie Meyer stole the plot from a friend in College who WAS an immature teenager and all SHE did was edit it with the American Equivalent of a CGP KS3 Revision Guide...

Sadly, none. School library is no help. There's only books for seven-year olds in the elementary library. :/
