Hai2everybody.

Zeeomg welcome to my attempts to colour yarly. Added a new one from Taboo-Tattoo. These are all clickable thumbnails btw.

Sword Girls Online color me contestz. But too bad there were too many super submissions and I'll lose ;(

Woah you did this without a tablet? >< So Cool~! I also colour manga pages but I don't know how to shade lololol... more like I am too lazy to learn =P I always though it was hard to shade without a tablet (I don't have one) ... maybe I should give it a try when I have time in Christmas break. ><

Yeah, I did them without a tablet. Actually, I didn't even think about using a tablet until one my friends asked me (because I was explaining how I did the colouring) xD...

Shading itself isn't that bad to do, but knowing where to shade is what I have problems with. However... It isn't that bad for colouring manga (if you get a good one to colour). By that I mean the artist already has the shadows down for you, but at the same time it's easy to level out or erase so you get a good guideline to shade xD. Of course if you go from a straight lineart that's another story ;x.

As for shading with a mouse, I set the brush opacity low (around 10%) and basically you just brush over parts more that are darker and less that are lighter. It works fairly okay, but it's hard to adjust to the correct colour level you want. It's also time consuming, since you have to repeatedly stroke over to get the same level of colour depth. I'm hoping a pressure sensitive tablet will make that a lot easier >_>...

OH EM GEE! They look AWEOSME *.*~ If you get a tablet, try a Wacom! Their tablets are always so awesome =P (I have Intuos 3, now they sell Intuos 4) I heard Wacom Bamboo is pretty good for its price ^^ It's only 99$~ (and its uber cute looking XD)

Omg... now I also want a tablet >< lol but my list of "Things that I want" is pilling up and they are quite expensive items... Laptop, Nintendo DS (with that whatever you call thingy to download games for free online), tablet! LOL

@Xye: Yeah my friend also suggested me the Wacom Bamboo, which I found at about $80 CDN. So I probably will most likely give it a try. I looked at the Intuos 3/4 and holy, a little too expensive (around 400 >_>) for something I do as a hobby xP

@Shiki: Buy a tablet notebook, satisfy two in one go ;D... Who knows, maybe if someone designs a DS emulator that will work for a tablet notebook, you can have all 3 in one purchase ^^;

LOL!! XDD (ya intuos was darn expensive for me too x.x; but i plan on using it for a while on drawing stuff too~ so =P I am actually in LOVE with thye Cinq? or something...1999$...)

Well, i dont think tablet pc will have any sensitivity control =O It's just like a mouse, but with more control? but sensitivity (i think. I have no idea xD) And ya. There are emulators for DS you dont HAVE to buy it ^^

lol omg >< there are emulator for DS? I never knew that... I only have one for GBA lol but my friends said that DS is impossible since you need the touching screen for some games? ><

touch screen = computer mouse. Or me with my tablet =P with is like the stylus haha

Well I got the idea after I saw some video on a gaming site where someone synced their DS to two huge LCD screens. One being a touch screen, and he was playing it. I don't know if it's possible to do with out having the DS hooked up, but it's a potential to emulate it xD...

Would you mind sharing the tutorial as I am also trying to color manga in my free time. Oh and I agree about the Bamboo tablet as I have one and I am really pleased with it.

There's two parts to the tutorial I used, which he defines as basic and advanced. The basic part is just colouring as one solid colour which you would define as your "base" colours. The advanced part is demonstration of how to shade it.

With a mouse, I couldn't really follow the advanced part, since I can't get the same type of effect with a mouse. You might be able to since you have a tablet. Though I it's a little hard to imagine how he just shades it so well, since you see it as a base colour and then shaded right after.

Though the base tutorial is pretty useful to get you set up to start fiddling around with how you want to shade it in afterwards.

In the second image, the girl's head and arm are almost plain (no depth/shadowing). Other than that great job. The clothes look awesome :)

Hmmm in CS5 they are called...

Hard Round Pressure Opacity
Soft Round Pressure Opacity

The one that I used before was... Air Brush Pen Opacity Flow in CS4 which I can't seem to find in CS5... But oh well, I'm still experimenting with different colouring styles >_>

Papercraft is just like folding paper into shapes to make objects. If you are wondering how you make it, take a look at the PDF I attached, that's like the blueprint kind of. You should understand from looking at it!

Been a while since I did anything arty. This is a contest submission for Sword Girls Online color me contest. This one took quite a while since the default resolution was huge haha. Still can't do glass/skin coloring that well but oh well, I think this probably a step up from my last colorings... >_>
