yea, so im making an introduction for my thesis. its about making an inventory (database management) for a store. the parts of the chapter were already assigned to each member of the group and I was assigned with the introduction problem is, I don't know how to start it o.o
I'm thinking of outlining it but im having trouble what to add and what to leave (cuz i might stray away from the topic) any suggestion? thank you~

You're writing an introduction and other people are writing the other parts of the paper? Are you writing all of the thesis or just a part of it? I'm confused...

If you're writing the introduction and others are writing the rest, you really need to see the rest of what's written before you can write the introduction, since the introduction should be a basic summary of what is coming up in the rest of the paper. If you're writing the whole paper, you just need to write a summary of what the problem is (inventory database), and how your paper is going to explain how to solve it.

yep. it's a group thesis. the parts of the chapter were divided to each individual members since we don't live near each other (it's vacation here so were all back home). also, chapter I and Chapter II have to be submitted during midterms (January) and chapter IV and V during finals (March) meaning I have to finish the introduction (in chapter I) by January or else we'll fail on midterms. which is kinda why im having a hard time doing this. I'm thinking of starting it with the history of computers and its relation to business (since were making an inventory for a store) but i don't know what to add after that.

err, how do you that? Can i do that for Chapter I and II only? ive researched about it and i read that the introduction should be the last thing to do but given our situation i think that it isn't applicable ... :swt:

Soo, by the introduction, you don't mean the introduction to the thesis, so much as the introduction of the book? I'm confused by what you mean by "chapters"

Pau

uhm...let see...

its kinda like this. our thesis is divided into chapters.
[for January]
chapter I: introduction
chapter II: research methods
[for March]
chapter III: (i forgot)
chapter IV: (i forgot)
chapter V: conclusion

ill have to ask my classmate later about chapter III and IV :swt:

Like kuri said, the introduction is like a summary of what you'll be explaining in the rest of your "database investment". The conclusion restates the introduction but adds in an ending of persuasive? Excitement?

So, first figure out what each of the paragraph will be about, then you can start off your introduction. Although the introductory is the easiest part. You just make up something to start off and use what you put in the introduction to introduce into your paragraphs.
