What I Wish I Could Tell You

This isn't a story like last time, because I honestly don't write many stories    But I want to share my writing, so here's what I did: I took a journal thing I wrote and "fictionalized" it enough to post it here.  The background of this: I've never actually been asked out to anything  and I'm a sophomore in college.  I wrote this during one of my frustrated moments; I'm happy to say I'm quite content to be single now! 

Please don't hesitate to speak your mind!


And so, I present an abridged version of "What I Wish I Could Tell You:"

There are so many things I wish I could tell you, but I am afraid to hurt our friendship in any way. 
I wish I could tell you how great of a friend you are to me. 
I wish I could tell you that I enjoy just being with you, silently, even if I have to sit on the hard floor. 
I wish I could tell you why I sit on the floor and not the couch: to be closer to you. 
I wish I could tell you how much I adore listening to you play your guitar, how wonderful that is. 
I wish I could tell you how I miss you when you are away and hate when I don't see you much. 
I wish I could tell you I like your sense of humor and can identify you by your laugh. 
I wish I could tell you I enjoy how much we have in common; how much we are alike. 

I wish I could tell you that the dorm event with you was probably the greatest night of my life and how comfortable I felt holding your hand. 
I wish I could tell you I want to spend time with you whenever I can, but fear becoming a nuisance. 
I wish I could tell you I think about you a lot and pray for you, too. 
I wish I could tell you how much more I worry about my incomplete social skills when I am with you than any of my girl friends.

I wish I could tell you how much I want to sit next to you or just watch you do whatever it is you're doing. 
I wish I could tell you how I wish I knew what you are thinking. 
I wish I could tell you how much effort I've put into not falling for you. 
I wish I could tell you that I've fully succeeded; but I would be lying.
I wish I could tell you how much I wish that I'd gotten to know you sooner.
I wish I could tell you that even now I fret about what to do, how to act, and what to say.

I wish I could tell you how, despite my efforts, I can see myself by your side for the rest of my life. 
I wish I could tell you I hope beyond hope that you will visit or that I come to mind when I'm not around. 
I wish I could tell you that I want us to be such good friends that I can lay my head on your shoulder when we're watching a movie. 
I wish I could tell you that seeing you smile brings a smile to my face, too. 
I wish I could tell you that I sometimes wish you had fewer friends so you would hang out with me more often.
I wish I could tell you that I care about you so much, despite what I may sometimes wish, I just want you to be happy; even if that doesn't include me.
