Let's be honest here. Korea doesnt have any artists (maybe Rain counts, but other than that...) so all you're going to get from mainstream korean music is really flashy and catchy bands who are controlled by major entertainment groups.

BOY BANDS - Lots of cute guys dance together in sync and lip sync at a camera. Girls scream in the background. Be prepared to be overwhelmed by way too many camera shots of hot guys who all look pretty much the same (asian) and wear too much eye makeup.

Super Junior - Very popular (and also very big) group with lots of heavily auto-tuned techno songs that all sound the same. Unfortunately, the members are all very hot&mature and the songs are catchy, so theyre popular anyway.
Suggested Song: Sorry Sorry
Tip: Yesung sings a really good Cinderella's Sister OST, so youtube that as well.

Big Bang - Five hot guys each with their own talents. What more can I say?
Suggested Song: Tonight
Tip: GDragon is one of Korea's highest paid entertainers and for good reason. I also strongly suggest you youtube "Wedding Dress Eng Sub" if you like ballads.

Shinee - Much younger group. They have their appeal, but itll be lost on you if your tastes are more mature.
Suggested Song: Ouch, this is hard. I dont like any of their songs. Try "Ring Ding Dong"
Tip: Uh, two out of five of them are horrid singers. So ignore them when they lipsync, they're only there since their faces arent ugo as hell. Also,  ignore the overly tight pants and hair and try not to laugh at all the butterflies. Theyre so gay it hurts, but you must endure.

Beast (B2ST) - I like them much better than Shinee.
Suggested Song: They have a lot of decent songs. I would try "Soom", "Fiction", or "On Rainy Days"
Tip: Did I say I like them better than Shinee? What I meant was: OMIFREAKINGGAWD BIAS Hyunseunginwifebeater saijfdlkjslkfddrooollllll
*coughs* And also, Yoseob has great vocals, so be sure to check him out.

Infinite - I listen to their songs when I want to listen to some 80s. LOLSRS.
Suggested Song: Be Mine
Tip: If you can get past how weird their music sounds in the first 14 seconds, you can get through the whole song.

Ukiss - Finally. English I can understand.
Suggested Song: 0330, Neverland (I am in love with the MV for Shut Up! but no one agrees with me)

Mblaq - GO used to have a pretty BA mustache.
Suggested Song: Cry, Mona Lisa

If you want muscle prancing around on screen without any shirts on and the most ridiculous face make-up ever, go listen to some 2PM songs. If you want actual BAND BANDs, search up FT Island and CN Blue. They have their roots in Korea's indie music scene, but now theyre just mainstream.

And...honorable mention goes to SS501's Love Ya and DBSK's Mirotic. Be prepared to see raunchy thrusting and ribbons. DBSK is legend, so if you haven't heard of them, I am disappoint.[/spoiler]

GIRL BANDS
Get ready to have your self-esteem get totally crushed! :D These girls arent just pretty, they are the products of some of Asia's best plastic surgery. Sure, they cant sing, but the way they strut around in those stilettos is enough to make any girl cringe.
If you want to search up a korean female solo artist to compare to Japan's pop princesses, you should try BOA. Lee Hyori was a pretty big deal back in the day, and I still listen to "U GO GIRL" for giggles.

Girl's Generation (SNSD) - The counterpart to aforementioned "Super Junior". Just as popular, SNSD is an ensemble of 9 stunningly gorgeous young women who are unique in some sort of way, I'm sure. Anyway, SNSD holds the record for most successful single.
Suggested Song: Gee (If you want to see them at their visual best, try their latest single "The Boys". Mute the sound since the song is horrible, but you cant deny how sexy and elegant they are.)
Tip: Dont forget a bag to hold all of your puke! Their songs are generically girly and full of "OH OPPA SARAENGHAEEE I WANT TO HAVE UR BABIES AND MAKE U SAMMICHES". Of course, Girl's Day and Secret are worse.

2NE1 - The counterpart to aforementioned "Big Bang". 2NE1 is by far the most successful international girl band. They stand out from the rest of the crowd by being tough and originally BA. They can sing, they can dance, and they can make us girls feel like WE RUN THIS MOTHERFUCKER :D Sorry, I still like Beyonce more.
Suggested Song: Fire (Pop), I'm the Best (Auto Tune), It Hurts (Ballad)
Tip: Park Bom has quite the amazing vocals. Listen to her single "Don't Cry". Please excuse crappy acting.

Brown Eyed Girls - Despite the fact that I can make 60 jokes about their band name, they've got talent.
Suggested Song: Abracadabra (*fans self* Oh, my, so hot!) I keed. Abracadabra is quite the catchy techno dance song. They also have a newer single called "Sixth Sense".
Tip: Gain is awesome :3 I love her. In case you cant recognize her, she's the one with short hair who is inevitably ends up somehow tied in a chair, kissing girls, or rubbing herself against something (anything)...in a suggestive way. She has two singles.

Davichi - Their singing is HEAVENLY, so I just popped them on this list.

Honorable Mention goes to: After School, Orange Caramel, Rainbow and T-ARA. Actually, all the girl bands after that just blur together for me XD The songs all become this jumbled mess of cuteness and girlish lyrics about boys and "OMO WTF AM I GOING TO DO TO WIN HIS HEART?"
If you're into that kind of thing, try: "Shy Boy", "Aing", and idk maybe "To Me" or "In The Night Sky".[/spoiler]
