Sedna the Dragon Hunter

First Hunt
[spoiler]Run! Go NOW! A voice screamed with fright. She was running. But why? No, she must learn that person's identity. She stopped in her tracks and turned back. Something was wrong, she felt she should not have turned back but at the same time, she must know because that girl was...who is she again? Frustration, panic and anger. Emotions she had never experienced before came rushing into her mind. Suddenly, she felt she could do anything. Pushing the huge oak door open, a burst of light engulfed her. And then...

"HYYYAAAAAAAA!"

"SHUT THE HELL UP!!" a booming, deep-throat voice roared, trembling the grounds and poor trees as he spoke.

With a painful whack on her head, the girl could see little firbirds dancing happily in circles above head.

"WHAT WAS THAT FOR??" The girl screamed at a huge dragon.

The half-grown dragon would not be pretty one if you like Earth animals like kittens and deers. But to a person from this world, you would call his beauty as a mysteriously alluring one of great power and hint of cool evilness. His voice was like a foghorn which trembled the grounds and silent even the most fiercest lions. This dragon is almost skeleton-like and it hid how powerful he can be. Covered with dark shiny scales which had painful edges, It really isn't comfortable for a dragon rider to travel with him. Speed, agility and power are the three elements to a great dark dragon. Or so he says.

His name is Ryuu.

"Don't you FREAKING KNOW THAT A GREAT DARK DRAGON SLEEPS IN THE DAY??!!"

The girl shook her head. there goes his ego and weird claims...

Sedna was just as mysterious as her dragon. Slim yet strong, She sported a short dirty blond hair and her fringe sometimes casts a shadow over her heterochromic eyes. Her eyes were so full of depth that you could feel yourself falling deep into the abyss if you stare too long into the strange blue and red eyes. She was beautiful in a way that you can't stop staring at her. On the other hand, it may be because of the aura she carried around - one full of confidence and strength. Unlike the typical Earthland girls, she was never interested in beauty or worrying about her boyish shaped body. Clad in a plain brown medieval tunic with short sleeves and dark green ankle-length pants, she wore steel boots and her dressing would draw criticism from noble ladies. Instead, she just wanted more power. Power drawn from knowledge and experience.

"In other words, only I can control a great dragon's sleeping time. Wake up, we gotta move on," Sedna ordered.

"YOU WANNA FIGHT?!"

But the girl was already making her way down to the nearby stream. Shouting back, she told him to use the lake on the other side.

"AND NO PEEKING!"

"WHO THE HELL WANNA PEEK AT YA PUNY BODY!" and the dragon took off after the girl shot a threatening look back.

The girl placed her sword against a small tree near the riverbed. It was encased in a mud cover to hide its true beauty. Nicknamed Palladium, the sword had two blades - one steel long blade and an gold-plated iron shorter one. The hilt was made out of titanium, making it strong yet light. A suitable sword for a young female traveller, she thought when she first saw it. And at a rather good price too. What drew the girl to the sword was the engravings on the hilt - Onyx engravings which seemed to glitter eerily when splattered with blood. And strangely, the engravings were of characters that seemed so foreign yet familiar to her. An oxymoron, she would say.

However, that was not her only treasured possession. There was something else she would protect at all cost - a larger-than-normal crystal key which was attached to a string around her neck. her first and most valuable possession. No one could steal that from her, not even her dragon.

Glancing around for any unwanted guests, she took off her clothes slowly and folded them neatly at the side of the river. Her head was still spinning from the blow.

Or maybe it was because of that nightmare again.

She sighed quietly as she sat down on a rock in the river. Peace in the morning.

Far away, a dragon growl could be heard, frightening several poor four-winged small birds into the air.[/spoiler]

Second Hunt

The dragon and his rider soared through the air. The bath was refreshing, he thought. I can fly nonstop today. Even the weather is celebrating.

"Don't count on it," the female rider muttered. "I need to get some supplies. We are stopping over the first village we see. oh, speak of the Sirens, it's over there! Fly low and stay hidden in the trees."

What the hell is a 'psi-rains'? Ryuu wondered. But he followed her instructions anyways.

The female rider jump off the dragon before he even landed. Feather-light, she only touched ground without much disturbance to the fallen leaves below. Quick as a lightning, she disappeared among the towering trees into the clearing. After much talk with some soldiers at the gate, she disappeared behind the big wooden gates.

Ryuu know he could only wait patiently. Any impatience on his end would incur her wrath and he would be outnumbered if those villagers hear a dragon roar. He knew from his keen eyesight that it was no normal village. It was the village of mages and hunters. He could feel that magical aura leaking from his position deep in the woods. Stupid humans. Don't they know what is conservation of energy?

Bored, he took a walk to the nearby lake deeper inside the wounds. He lazily put his tail into the water and began to play with the fish. The fish swam frantically around to avoid the sharp edges of the bony tail. Then, the dragon slumped down.

Fall is coming, he thought as he watched the yellow-orange leaves fall from the tall sticks in the ground. Soon, the gound would be barren again, waiting for the Goddess of Nature and Beauty to once again bless the lands with seeds and good weather next spring. He dozed off thinking of the celetial beings without noticing the tiny movement from a nearby bush. A yellow eye peered through a gap in the busy overgrowth. Ryuu was fast asleep.

The yellow eyed creature crept suspiciously towards the enormous winged lizard, hiding out quickly behind some shrubs whenever the the lizard breathed deeply. Closing in on the wings of the dragon, it stretched out to touch the strange paper-thin yet glowing texture. However, that pitiful creature could not even get that experience of a lifetime cause the next thing it knew, it was pinned down  hard on the ground by a dragonleather boot. Its opponent was so strong that it could not escape with its usual tricks. It squirmed and finally screamed so earsplittingly that the hunter almost lost her grip. She quickly put her foot in its mouth and leaned towards it. Casting an ugly look at the goblin, the hunter emptied its pockets of golden trinkets before freeing him. The magpie-like goblin sprinted away as fast as its stout fat legs could go, making strange angry noises.

"So....touching my wings are only worth a few crowns?" Ryuu sniffed in a dissatisfied manner as he watch her count the bounty.

Disconcerned with his comment, she stuffed the small dirty bag of gold into her pocket.

"It didn't even touch you. Besides, you could have had a good meal of fatty meat if you pretended that I would not be there to 'save' you," she replied. "Let's go. I heard that the villagers hunt in these woods in the day."

And they are off again. Dragons aren't welcomed in this world, especially those that had been attacked by some not-very-wise dragons.

They don't understand. Wasting years of their short lifespan ignoring the truth and living in fear. Too few of them open their eyes to the natural flow of life in living here. The food chain, mainly.

Ryuu shook his great head and spotted a large three-headed bird. Licking his scaly lips, he swooped down for his first meal of the day. Meanwhile, the rider took out a book as she amazingly balanced herself with all the sudden movements. [/spoiler]
