Guideline: Translator

Here is what you should pay attention to:

-The translations are clear and understandable (so that the typesetter knows where to put what)

-The NAMES and TERMS correspond to the NAME LIST, found under each project.

- Make sure that each time that you change something, There is always a complete copy of the correct translations for the editors to download. (which means, do not just write our changes seperatly, change it from the document).

-Save your translations in a text file. (*.doc, *.rfl, etc) Please NO .docx (Microsoft Office 2007)

They are both dictionaries. Wenlin is a good all purpose dictionary, but Nciku has a better character recognition tool. Usually, I use nciku to find out a characters pinyin, and then type it into wenlin. I strongly reccommend them both.

BTW, for those who never used wenlin before, an umlaut "u" is typed as "v" for convenience. so instead of ju, it will be jv. If thatmakes any sense. *head spins from sleep deprivation*

Also you can always ask someone - the hardest part is making a Name / Proper noun list.

Kanji is the chinese-ish characters. Hiragana is the Japanese scribbles. Katakana is the Japanese scribbles for non-Japanese words. Romaji is Romanised Japanese, basically the pronunciation.
