Cosplay Masquerade / AnimeNEXT 2010
June 21, 2010, 15:00
This con took place in NJ instead of NY - an OMG!!! moment for me and other NJ residents since it's like a huge anime con. Here are all the pics I took (and got from pose shot things)

Day 1
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=441543&id=657410108

Poses (still Day 1)
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=441975&id=657410108

Day 2
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=441974&id=657410108

Day 3
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=442600&id=657410108

In the poses, the Hitsugaya, Aizen and Shinji cosplayers are the cosplayers that I hung out with on Friday and Saturday, and couldn't find them on Sunday because - Shinji I knew wasn't showing up - Aizen didn't show because he was babysitting and Ihad no idea and I couldn't find Knepachi with Hitsugaya anywhere.
I will be doing translations still, but I'm still kinda caught up with some things over on my end. Just so everyone knows....

It's forbidden, but one of the guys that my school's anime club and I call "King of Hentais" do all the photoshopping of anything hentai related pictures whenever he goes into his presentations
#7
The only way for the club to talk about Romance Comedy related stuff is if we girls from the club get together since the guys are the majority, so it's usually hentai, yuri, yaoi, violence, action, etc. etc. etc. kind of stuff
#8
What?! Romance Comedies still have likeable qualities even if not everything can be likeable....!

And I mean that I mainly read mangas and almost never have time to watch animes that whenever I do have time, it usually ends up being in school during Anime Clubs
#9
But all the mangas and manhwa that are romance comedy are like that, I supposed.

And I'm more of a manga person, so I go by the manga for majority of the series like Bleach
#10
And the fact that the hysterical comedy of when Tamaki and Haruhi of not realizing that they like each other is actually done and over with is bothering me too, but just the fact that they're not telling each other is what's bothering me most at the moment. I actually love the series otherwise
#11
I think it's just for the suspence of it. I know I'm getting more excited about what's going to happen and it's pulling at my leg like crazy
#12
For some reason, anything Gender Bender that has comedy like 1/2 Prince, Girl Got Game (Power!) and Ouran High School Host Club, or anything supernatural like Bleach interests me more than others
#13
I was typing up slides for a project and on here back and forth and I just misworded things! >____<

Not somewhat pointless? There goes your "pride"

=____=llll I meant people thinking that so I'm not throwing my pride away. I would agree it's pointless IF I didn't get a job for being a Korean or for being able to speak Korean since I got a job as a ESL teacher at my school over the summer
#15
XD Of course I do know how to read~ I'm a pureblood korean.

hangook ae-suh 7/8 nyun sah-rah-suh-go, mee-gook eun guh-ee 12 nyun sah-rah-suh
#16
mee-ahn-ha-dah~

just had to keep replying since it does tend to annoy me when others say Korean culture/language is not somewhat pointless or what not especially after having been born and raised a korean for past 19/20 years.

but yeah.... oh-reh-it-suh-rang~!
#17
Actually, surprisingly, no. They just learn Korean for no reason whatsoever.
#18
Surprisingly, not necessarily. My parents showed me this one documentary, and even the parents of the white people that are not even living in Korea that barely visits Korea actually speaks Korean. Even Scottish people, considering they don't even live in Korea

Hey!  :omg: Korean language is not impractical! People that don't take much interest in us Koreans just don't seem to bother try learning our language......  T___T

But it's not impractical, and we Koreans take pride in our culture and language!
Haha of course what I meant was that mostly only koreans know the korean language, so the only reasons you might learn it is if you were fascinated with it or you were moving there =P

Not necessarily.... Whites living in America Town over in South Korea are able to speak Korean too
#20
Avatar, mainly because my dad was acting like a 5 year old for once while I was acting his age....
#21
Quote from: Ayro on March 08, 2010, 08:23
So your korean by birth? Most people wouldn't try to learn korean simply because its impractical. English because it is practical, being as half the world, and counting, knows it.

#23
YESH! ANOTHER KOREAN TRANS! ..... I mean, what....?

Welcome, though~! ^^
#24
^^; Well, considering it was my first Anime Con, I was excited and was running all over the place.... As well as EXTREMELY impatient, which explains the slightly bad quality....
#25
In Korea, China and Japan (if China and Japan does it the same as Korea, which I'm positive they do), if you're zero year old, you're not even considered to be born - yet. But the second you're born, it's basically the doctors saying, "Hey! Congratulations! You got a healthy one year old!"
#26
By technicality, yes. In Korea - and if I'm not mistaken, Japan and China as well - if you were to be born in let's say 1990, where you would be considered 20 in US, you'd be considered 21 in Korea

@BleachFreak: > <That would so help as a starting point.
There's a difference between Korean age and normal age? o___o

I'll upload it unto the google doc and PM you in a few hours.
And define "normal" age, because I'm used to both my Korean age and my American age, although my Korean age makes me feel so old and both are "normal" to me more or less, even if I was born in Korea and I should be considering that normal
#28
People really should.....! I only started to read it because I was fed up with two of my friends talking about the anime version constantly and talking about the twincest that I just gave in and started to read the manga....! The anime does follow pretty well until the 25th episode (which I personally didn't favor XP), but the manga is defiantly something so cute and so funny to read....! Especially with how the some of the characters, especially the 'halfer' as Beni Beni Bara calls him keeps refering to the entire thing as a manga every once in awhile, which makes it even more hilarious!
#29
I know.....! At least she seems to be seeing some potentials in her grandson now....!

And what HIkaru said to the heroine was just so cute~! o(>W<)o I was all like 'KYAAAAAH~!!!!"
#30
Shphank (thank) you~!
#31
But with the latest chapter that's out, I feel so bad for him, though.... His own dad used him and the father doesn't even fully realize it until being pointed out by one of the smartest students around

I thought you said born in 1998 and thought you were like 11 xP... Boy that would be super young D;...

XD No, no. I was seven (eight in Korean age) back when I moved to US

Manga / OHSHC (Ouran High School Host Club)
March 02, 2010, 07:54
Is it just me or does anyone else on this board read this gender bender? I mean, I have to admit that I don't really favor the anime version, not because it's short, but the fact that in middle of 25th episode, the animators screwed everything up, but the manga is so adorable, especially with both the heroine and one of her sempai's not being able to tell eachother that they like one another out of the same reason and fear~

Lifestyle / Re: School Anime Clubs?
March 01, 2010, 21:10
In my high school years, there was an Anime Club, and there was a frequent once a month meeting, until last year, which then was a mess because last year's president never sent out e-mails to say that there were any after school meetings.

As for now, since I'm in college, instead of just any kind of Anime Club, it's called Otaku Anime Society, and basically, it's gone to a whole new level since we do presentations on either one specific anime or genre, and some go more overboard than others, so it's both good and bad at the same time....

Lounge / Re: What's your favorite food? :P
March 01, 2010, 20:19
Give me any food that's noodles (like ramen), I'll eat it. And if it's anything spicy (meaning Korean's Shin Ramen spicy), I'll eat it. And any kind of sweets, as long as it's not too sweet, I'll take it and run away with it most likely than not
#39
I can speak both Korean and English fluently, read and write english fluently, but as for korean, it's a bit rusty, but I still know how to read and understand more or less, and if I don't, I ask my parents. As for the writing portion in Korean, it's extremely rusty
I pretty much know how to speak and read spanish, but it's been a few years since I dropped the spanish course, so it might be extremely rusty.

@ xdeathcat: I might be able to help if you really want to learn Korean

Music & Movies / Re: I need new music!!!

Purple Line - DBSK
I Do - Rain (Bi)
Bad Guy - Rain (Bi)
Touch Ya - Rain (Bi)
Don't Stop - Rain (Bi)
Love Story - Rain (Bi)
Atlantis Princess - BoA
Don't Stop Now - BoA
Eat You Up - BoA
ID Peace B - BoA

Those are really good. DBSK's Purple Line is both good in Korean and Japanese. As for the BoA, I haven't heard her Japanese version ones, but her Korean versions are defiantly something that's worth listening to, especially her Eat You Up
#41
k, and confirmed. ^^
#42
I don't watch it either. I only read the manga version. But I guess ordering the costume and using a hankie for Hinamori's hair style did turn out pretty good.
#43
I have several, but to name a few.....

That's Not My Name - The Ting Tings
Purple Line - DBSK
I Do - Rain (Bi)
Bad Guy - Rain (Bi)
Touch Ya - Rain (Bi)
Don't Stop - Rain (Bi)
Love Story - Rain (Bi)
Atlantis Princess - BoA
Don't Stop Now - BoA
Eat You Up - BoA
ID Peace B - BoA

Note - Starting 'Purple Line' by DBSK and down are all Korean Music - meaning for DBSK's Purple Line and all of BoA's music, I'm not talking about their Japanese version but their Korean version
#44
SS501
Big Bang
Kara
TMax
Bi (Rain)
BoA
DBSK
CLON

there are so many other Korean bands and singers I like and I can't name them all at the top of my head right now.... >____<

XD That's only one of the pics, but found it faster than the others considering it was one with Aizen cosplayer... From the pic, I'm Hinamori

XD Kinda..... ^^; although some of them were taken by others for me. But at least the one that some guy took of me and Aizen cosplayer together turend out good, and that was one of the main pics I was aiming for so I'm still satisfied. And it was my first convention so I guess I was at that excited/nervous point

Whispering Corridors 5 (I forget the on-the-side title of it, but I do know it's the fifth movie in the Whispering Corridors series [K-Horror]) and House [american horror]

my parents tell me I have a problem for being so obsessed about horror films, especially Korean and Japanese horrors, but I don't see any problem in it since it gets my adrenaline going

btw catriona, there are A LOT of restrictions in North Korea, no one is allowed in or out of the country...

as well as no family having tv, unless if it's given to them by their country leader, and even if they happen to have a tv, it's only on for a few hours a day, and it's only something like message from the leader or extremely important news
#52
@ Iteza: XDD It was either the one I have now or actual IchiRuki one, and the bunnies one seemed much funnier

@ Catriona: Yeah, it IS sad for the North Korea for the restrictions on internet, but that's not the only thing that's sad after a documentary I saw on North Koreans

Hi! My real name (or at least nickname(s) at my school) is Sue/Jesus since "JiSu" is way too "hard", apparantly... I'm a Korean (South obviously seeing North Koreans are not allowed to go on any website except korean ones), and I'm currently a second semester undergrad freshman in college~ ^^

I'm going to be working as a Korean Translator to actually read the manga while brushing up on my Korean skills~
