What kind of music do you listen to?

 :) My parents made me listen to a whole bunch of stuff when I was little. My dad was always playing funk and blues, and mom was always playing classical and folk music. My personal favorite genres are metal and orchestral music. What are your favorite genres of music? How did you get introduced to them? ;D

Anything, I go through a LOT of phases. Right now, I like Evanescence, Linkin park, and that sort of stuff. Before, it was disney songs. (don't ask).
What's sweeping through my school right now, though, are Korean songs. I think it's called Gee or something, and there's this other one with a bunch of boys. The only line I can remember sounded sort of like 'sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry' or something like that. =.='

@Xye: I think i've heard of Gackt...does he have anything to do with something called Vocaloid? And did a bunch of fangirls photoshop his shirt of or something like that?

In term of the English music industry, I'm an oldies + country + classical fan. ^^" Odd combination but yeah. Sometimes I'll just feel like taking out an old Beatles/Elvis CD and play it.

But in term of more modern music (XD), it has to be J-music. For some reason I listen to pop, rock, rap, R&B, enka etc. Ditto Mithril's picks of abs + UVERworld though I'm a bigger fan of Laruka (and shortie hyde). I prefer bands who at least try to have a hand in composing songs or playing instruments so if you throw boy/girl band names like ARASHI, NewS, KAT-TUN you won't get a reaction from me. I love female soloists with nice voices too, especially those who play the piano like Angela Aki. ;A; I tend to like those with lower voices like Mika Nakashima, Chihiro Onitsuka...but yet I find myself listening to the classical group Kalafina. =w=" (probably 'cos of Kajiura Yuki)

The only Korean music I listen to is Lena Park and Cherry Filter. CF seems kinda unknown even though they're such a stellar rock band.

Sadly, I don't seem to listen to music in my own native language Chinese except when the radio is switched on by my other family members. =w=""

Let's see...J-pop and K-pop is alright once in awhile when you find a really good group to listen to (Yes, I like A.B.S. too xD) but after awhile all these new songs and stuff start sounding the same...(?!)

Celtic music is enjoyable and so is New Age/Experimental (someone hurry and go listen to E.S. Posthumous - Pompeii or Oraanu Pi and you'll know why I added new age all of a sudden)

I don't have any particular fave genre but I listen to RnB, Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock, J-Pop/Rock, K-Pop, Jazz, Classical. The only Country music I listen to is Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. LOL

anything but rap is really good! recent music (in america anyway) i find really really annoying and boring. it's just all about gangs and drugs it's like.... wow you're cool. go find something else to write a song about!

but i do like alternative stuff. some of it just because it's so dumb >_< like a lot of My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco, and Red Jumpsuit Aparatus is so ridiculous that it's fun to listen to. My recent favorite song (in english) is definitely Check Yes Juliet - We The Kings.

Japanese music rules over english music any day! Favorite japanese song at the moment is Papermoon by Tommy Heavenly6 cause they're good!

Not the dumb rap though. I usually stick to the old stuff, and people rapping like the old stuff, now thaaat's where it's at ;D. I also listen to acoustics and rock too, and country, and jazz... basically everything except techno xD.

I personally don't listen to jap music, they all remind me of opening/ending songs on an anime xD.

I listen to a varity of music. Back in my hardcore anime/manga days I'd listen to vocaloids, Japanese/Chinese music but nowaday I mostly listen to about everything but rap. Some rap is okay but hardcore rap and metal is just annoying. Stuff by Fireflight, Linkin Park, The Birthday Massacre, Within Temptation, Evanescence, Avril Lavigne, Lady Antebellum, Lonestar, Tim Mcgraw usually catches my interest. ;]

Well. Eh, it's a generalisation that makes a lot of sense.

For example, I listen to classical when I'm in a tired/mellow mood or when it's rainy and I feel like dramatically acting out a movie scene. And when I'm angry/just want to be alone for a while, I blast out rock/dubstep and people get the general idea. And during my low points in life, I found myself switching between pop (happy, bubbly pop like uh, no idea - Colbie Caillat?) R&B...and more rock, heh. OH aaaaand, especially when I'm walking around alone and feeling like a boss, I listen to hip-hop for the extra self-esteem boost, LOL.

Then again, that's just me. Idk about you guys.
