so uhm...though i'm still an editor in training i feel that i should post an opinion of mine here (if by chance I posted it in the wrong thread or made an invalid post, pls tell me. thank you)

For now many of us have already felt a certain "change" in our group. Some even left because of it. Right now 3 of them left because of this and it made me think that something must be done. I've been here for almost a year already and I know how strong our bonds as a team are but, there are some things that I do not know as well. I realized this when a read about someone's post on why they had to leave (for reference, pls check the absence notice. thank you). Someone told me that communication is something a team should have. that's why I want to know, im willing to tell what I feel about this group. to see whats wrong, how they are seen, how i am seen, how each one of us feels like when were together and know how we return back to the days were the everyone was happy. pls tell me your opinion on this. thank you.

I heard that Lily is coming back from what I read on Skype from quoting angel's reply on there. I've been on here for more than a year, although most of the time I'm a lurker so I'm not on here usually or you won't see me posting on here. Angel and I talked about which part seems to be the problem, it's mostly the Quality Checker/Editor/Proofreaders but mainly the QCer. They seem to struggle a lot of stress by sending back mistakes and like the editors feel that emotional stress from making a mistake.
But Pau, communication may be the problem on here BUT most people on here came to work for a specific manga or interest in a manga so they won't really care about actually interacting and understanding one another. I also sent Iteza a reply about how I felt in my opinion of what's wrong in the group as well. I said that it's not as fun as before, like there were TONS of non-members communicating and having fun with us Staff members. But since now there's a bunch of ongoing Staff members posting on the forums; it makes viewers think that this group is probably a bit harder to communicate in. So that's why I made the art thread to attract people in and joining the fun. This group became QUITE a serious scan, re-reading previous posts makes you feel warm inside and like everything is a sensational feeling. But as you can see now, most of the threads on here are DEAD, like the RPG section, commission, and cosplay are pretty much dead. But the Facebook group page, there are still people posting on there but they don't know much about the updates anymore since we kind of abandon the group page rather than the like page. The group page was there for years, but it got abandon for quite some time.
In my opinion, I think we need to revive the viewers and the exciting feeling in the group. Like make it pretty, add some cool, fun new events/announcements; something like that.

I think part of the problem with the lack of chattiness and non-staff forum participation is a more general shift away from forums.

People are reading manga on MangaFox and other reader/aggregators instead of coming to the websites to download and read new chapters. Facebook and sites that don't need a separate login are much easier for people to chat on than the forum where you need to sign up and log in (and where our forum emails aren't even reaching a number of forum members).

People might chat on Skype, but some people don't feel as comfortable doing voice chatting, and those messages (and the ones on the Chatbox) aren't reflected on the forum, so someone who comes by doesn't see many updates here. Also, it's not obvious how people can participate in Skype conversations to begin with.

I wonder if the Webreader may be contributing to the problem? In the sense that people aren't downloading releases as much, I mean. I'm not suggesting we shut it down or anything...I don't think my poor heart could stand knowing the days I spent getting it up and running were for naught...  :whaat: ...but if it's for the good of the group...

Thanks to werr for my very first sig!! Best birthday present ever! *hug

I really don't think that's the case. People who want to download are going to do so whether they read it online or not because they want it for themselves forever instead of depending on someone else (or a bad internet connection).

yea, i definitely agree that. the problem is how to do that though. regarding viewers i suggest we start with the anniversary that vaux proposed but since he left angel's handling it now (cuz their criminal buddies~  *skip ). I recalled were also doing a coloring page for the anniversary right?  maybe i should start learning too?  :o_o:

But angel is dealing her situation atm. So she may not be able to take over the project, but we know that LW can help us out. I, for once, can help out on the graphic part which i'm working on for my major deal event.

Post it everywhere about things to get people interested, like how we recruit new staff, instead make it fun and exciting to come talk to us about anything.

just to make sure, should i be (or at least am i allowed) to post things like that? (i don't want to break any rule here  :swt: ). or better yet, why not advertise it using our projects (kinda like credits and the recruitment page?) ive seen some scanlators did it (when i was reading a manga, i saw an advertisement about a credit-page making contest on the last page).

Pau, you've got a brain so you're allowed to make suggestions. XD

Don't feel like you can't say anything just because you're new.

Ahaha refer to what zeph-tan said is something to think about :P
You don't have to actually be a staff to help out, you can just help the group. I'm not the recruiter but yet I'm doing it because I don't have an up-to-date version of PS to finish my test faster.
And that's what I meant, by "post it everywhere". Whether its on instagram, twitter, tumblr, batoto, mu, credit/recruit pages in the project, facebook, myspace (idk if anyone still us this anymore, but its usable), blog or whatever you can find to put our love out there for the world to see.

You know what, this forum is more alive than most manga scanlate forum. For one, my first group's forum was (and still is) dead from normal conversation. That's mostly because the staff prefer to chat from skype though. I usually browse through the forum only to download RAW, posting and asking stuff related to the project I was doing.

Anyway, as far as I can see, the general section are dead no matter which forum I visited. The staff mostly won't bother with those. And only the member (non-staff) and several friendly staffs replied those threads.

If you don't mind me speaking honestly (and harshly at that. No offense meant, seriously!), I don't think that kind of topics are necessary at all. It's okay to have them, but before long, that kind of generic things end up getting stale and dropped.

Since it's a manga-related site, just speak and discuss about lot and lots of manga/anime. One time, in my other group (the one I mentioned above), there's very active thread while the others are simply dying. Guess what's that about? We're speculating about Shingeki no Kyojin (like how the wall is built, the past history, origin of the Titan, Eren's father, etc). I found it so much fun than simply talking about what you are doing at the time and so forth.

This is strictly my personal opinion, and no one is forced to follow my thought...so please, do not feel like I was harassing anyone here because that's really not my intention. So if I do, I apologize. I'm a bit too blunt at times :p

I guess I was a bit side-tracked *cough*

As for leaving, I see it's more of the interpersonal relationship. I'm new here so I don't know how Transcendy was like before. I'm merely speculating by reading people's comment. Communication is the problem. Before people start pointing fingers, I think it'd be best if related parties sort their problem first. And though I don't think all would agree, anyone with Administrator status should oversee this. It may be a bit too much because Admin has lots of works to do already, but it IS necessary. At least some sort of counselor figure is necessary.

My other group are filled with a bunch of strong-headed and blatant people. We often argue and at times like that, our admin (or rather, vice admin), stepped in and cool us down. If she's not there, I think I would have left very long time ago  :dignose:

Also, whenever we had problem with each other, we talk to her first, before actually shooting the other party  :woohehe:

Sorry if I seems like bringing up my other group so often. I just think that some things from that group can be of help here :)

@Yen, there's nothing wrong with being blunt about how you feel or your opinion about the group. We all based our opinion on what the problem seems to be. You may not know of it that well yet, so you may assume that nothing is wrong with our group. But there's secrets that are hidden within the staff team and not out to the public. So by saying is that, people (non-staff) would see a cheerful active group; but on the inside (staff) its all dark and dead or something like that. Not all group are the same, each group has different people in it. Like the group you explained in the last statement, that if there's a problem you would talk about it with the higher-ups. But in this case, it seems like most of the staff who left has problems with the higher-ups. I only left because of school and  how different transcendence has become.
Yes, I do agree that this group IS a manga-related group. But it would be REALLY boring if its JUST about manga. Although its true that most of the threads on here are dead, but there's really no use of closing it or removing the area. We are already trying our best to revive half the forums atm, but since lately the group's been busy with their projects/school/work/training within/outside the group.
Although it's true that staff members are the only people who are reviving the group at this moment, and there are some lovely non-members who also helped, but those non-members would eventually vanish or join the team. So in conclusion it would end up a "Staff-based" group. Although, i have no problems with this at all, but since there are a bunch of others who may not feel the same.

Well, that's just part of the story. There are many others who also left because of communication with the admin/higher-ups but has never left their story yet. Although, you said to stop pointing fingers, but it's true that it's within the staff team. We talked with some of this stuff with the higher-ups already, and was told it was something within the staff team. It seems as though, the retired staff had tried to overcome this and past this feeling but as it seems its not working very well, so they left. Although, its true that Admin do have a lots of things to do, but there are others who also have things to do. Just because someone is higher-up doesn't mean that they have the right to get free time and lecture others (I'm not bashing anyone, I'm just saying in general). Whether its gaming, manga, anime, or whatever; an admin or higher-up rank staff should not bashed their stress or blame or make someone work more than what they're usually does. Like for Lia-tan's leave message, about how people make mistakes all the time, so there's really nothing to say when making mistakes. Because making mistakes is like a daily thing that people do, it can't be perfect but its worth a shot to just try to do something right.

But like I said, I can be a bit butthurt when it comes to being blunt and not knowing the whole story; since I recently came back from a problematic issue. If you would like, yen, you should try reading the past posts. You'll be able to have that feeling where its like "home". It doesn't make you feel like a manga-based group, but it feels much different.
