Big Mistakes!!!

Hey Guys and Girls! Here's the forum topic where you can tell us all the things you've done wrong! Things that made you wish "If only I could go back in time and change it all" or "I wish I can put myself in deep hole and not to go out for the meantime".

Let me start first, my phone was ringing non-stop during our Chemistry long test! Good thing my teacher was kind enough to not give me an offense for that. I even turned my cellphone off before the test. After all the years me and my phone have been through :)) It betrays me at this time. Plus, I was reviewing for a quiz in History and I saw my classmate coming out from the classroom so I went in and I saw a bunch of strangers. It took me quite a while to realize that I was in the wrong room :)))

I was thinking: "Why are there so many strangers in our classroom?" The reason behind all of that is because it's not our classroom but a room just beside it xD It turns out that my classmate went out from that room cause she was talking to a friend of hers xD Silly me  

I was too focused in reviewing for history that I didnt take notice of my surroundings xP

Biggest Mistake: Choosing to study Bioinformatics as my University major (Basically Computer Science + Biology in quick and easy terms). I liked computers and science so I thought it was a good choice... At the time. Entering University I was quite the keener, which lasted for all about maybe a month. Of course that was just normal laziness. Then I finally got to take some "actual" Bioinformatics course in 3rd year... and oh man do I hate it now.

Especially when you hate a your program, laziness just becomes exponential beyond belief xD... If I could go back, I'd pick something else. Though at this point I still don't know what I want to do, I do know what I DON'T want to do. =.=;

But then again, only around 2 more terms to graduate... Just have to stick it out to the end. Too much of a hassle to change now D;...

But I took physical therapy instead.... and its not that i hate it...but i regret ALOT not studying a tiny bit harder and get into Pharmacy. My mistakes are nothing compared to both of yours. This makes me want to concentrate on my studies more :)) I haven't been able to focus with my studies lately and so I'm getting ......kinda..low..grades. They're passing but I'm not satisfied with it. Before I end up regretting all of this later, I might as well study real hard for school.

I never thought that this thread/forum will end up inspiring me

My Biggest Mistake:

Enrolling in an Accelerated Math Class ( where you learn all of the 9th grade math and half of the 10 grade math in 1 semester!)

Somebody tell me why I would do that when I absolutely SUCK at math??!!

Now I am barely passing. If my EOCT scores for math is low....I can say "Hello" to summer school.

Haha, I wouldn't call it exactly worst or bad. You'll know when you get around to picking majors for university or college. Many people I know don't know what to do when they graduate or they feel they went into the wrong program. It's all part of life! In fact, many people I know who graduated wish they could go back and study something else xD... Though this maybe a case of the grass is greener on the other side D;...

@Xye: Actually, 0.05 off for what? The PCAT? If it was just your school marks or average, I would of begged a teacher to bump you up, since it is you know, your future and all. If they wouldn't, what a jerk of a school!

@HeavenlyQueen: Look at the bright side, if you pass, later down the line you get a free block to either pick an extra elective course you want to take! Or you could just not take any class in that slot and get a free block! (If your school worked like how my high school does!).

@ccstrc: Unless they are your deciding years (for us Gr. 12 before applying for university), marks don't mean all that much. What does matter is building good working habits, because that will help you for when it matters and more importantly in university. Once you become lazy procrastinator, it sticks with you for a long time. How I wish I was diligent in High School, then maybe I wouldn't be doing these last minute crams for all my midterms and finals @_@.

Wow. Everyone's sharing stories about school-related stuff. :o Ummm. Worst mistake I did in school was decide to take AP Calc AB my junior year. I thought it'd be a piece of cake, so i skipped out on doing homework, failed the tests, and barely managed to get a C in the class. I wish I had taken Stats or something.



Another huge mistake would be...underestimating the permit test for my state. All of my friends had told me that it was a common sense test and that it was a joke, so I didn't bother studying (just like Calc). Obviously, being the arrogant carefree girl I was, I bombed it.

 

Thank god you're not asking people to share their most embarassing moments (though there should be a thread)!

Lol, better safe than sorry!

The test gave me the really hard questions, asking me about certain fines and "Implied Consent". My friends told me all I had to worry about was recognizing signs. -_-

Just make sure you do the practice questions on the website (there should be some) and you'll be fine!

I was really rude to my grandma when I was small... I kinda went overboard at that time and didn't really care. Now if I think about it I always tell myself "I should be ashamed of all the bad stuff I did and didn't care about how she felt." Even thou I was so rude to her she was always nice to me and was on my side when my mom wanted to beat me up LOL (I was really annoying when I was a lil kid).  But now she passed away and I never had time to say sorry to her. ='(

So basically you have to cherish the people around you! If you did something bad just apologize to them before its too late. =]

&& your moral reminds me of something pretty similar that happened to me too.

I remember back in 3rd grade, there was a girl my class used to tease. She was basically always isolated and people would often give her rude remarks on whatever she did. There was a lot of degrading going on - it was pretty cruel, now that I think back on it.
She passed away 2 summers ago. Of course, I regret what I did before she died, but I never brought it up since I was pretty ashamed. I even tried to forget it even happened as I got to know her better. .___. 

:/ It's hard to live life with no regrets. But I totally agree - you never know when it's too late.

@Shiki: I know!! I completely understand what you feel. Whenever I go to the province w/ my family on holidays, I usually drop by at my grandparents' house and they give me all sorts of yummy foods. They also give me money on Christmas holidays and I guess I took advantage of that and I never sincerely thanked them. And just last year, they died. I should have done what I'm supposed to do: Thank them and apologize for all of my wrongdoings.

Ah, I just remembered another event I regret.

Back when I was in middle school, I would always help my friends with their "relationship" problems. I would stay on Aim/Yahoo IM for hours just to give out suggestions on what they could do, or console them, telling them that nothing was wrong with them, that it was always the boys' fault for not noticing their "efforts".

It got to the point where me and my friends would stay up chatting until midnight or past then. I was so involved with their social lives that I messed up my priorities and put them first over my school work/academics. My grades started slipping, especially in Geometry, dear god, math always goes down first, and I was confused as hell. I didn't want to blame my friends for their problems, but I hated the fact that I was so wrapped up and that I couldn't just tell them good luck and cut them out of my life.

Later on that year, I had to take a test so I could go to a better highschool, with some sort of special IB program. Obviously, I failed and wasn't accepted, and I was pretty mad at myself for quite a while.  A looong while.  x_x My parents were disappointed too, and that killed me.

So, cheesy life lesson - friends are important, but you have to know your limit when it becomes really obvious that they're influencing you in a bad way.

I guess I'll share my klutzy falling down the stairs story too.

I was still in high school and was heading home for the day. I remember I had like three books in one arm, and my coat draped over the same arm with my flute in the other hand. I had just bought a cute pair of heeled shoes and decided to wear them to school that day. We'll you can probably guess where this is going....
One of my adorable shoes got caught on my coat causing me to literally slide down the stairs. I dropped the books, and the flute case popped open. As I was collecting the pieces I remember thinking, "I wish I hadn't taken the see through staircase in the middle of the school" :P

Owww. I've never walked into a power pole before, but it's happened a few times with street signs (luckily for me they bend a bit and aren't too sharp). I guess we should consider books as dangerous objects.

I also failed to mention that in cases where I run into signs, there is usually no book involved, and I'm usually skipping like an idiot or talking to someone-- In both cases I'm not using the sidewalk, like most intelligent individuals do.

I'm just thinking about what mistakes I've made in life.. and thinking and thinking...

I mean, I know I must have made a bunch (I mean, I'm me; and if you knew me, you'd know what I mean).. but is it wrong to feel you're in a such a good place in your current life that they just don't feel like real mistakes?

..sorta like those mistakes - whatever they were and however unfortunate they were to have happened - put me where I am right now at this moment.
And I'm not exactly unhappy.

Moreover, even if those mistakes hadn't of been made, who says that they'd not have happened at a later stage and left me at an even greater disadvantage then when they actually occurred?

Oh look at me.. being all philosophical, or whatever it is I'm being.. 

If anything I'd have changed something my parents did! Instead of moving to Australia they should have moved to Finland. Then I could see a lot more of Apocalyptica on stage; speak Finnish (which is such a wickedly cool language) and marry some hot Finnish guy, that could very possibly have been Eicca Toppinen himself if I'd been in the right place at the right time and had some sort of ability to know what I know now, in this life.

I probably made a lot of mistakes in my social life but I don't remember any of those because I have been brainwashed by my parents to focus on school so the mistakes I remember are school-work related.
The biggest mistake I made this year was in English class, while we were taking a vocabulary test, I read the directions wrong   for the biggest part of the test.
But thankfully the teacher loved me so she gave me half credit? In the end I got an 84. However, since I had like a 105% average or something from doing something really well, I still got to keep my A+?

Other mistakes I have made have to do with me being a klutz. When walking, I always trip, but there is no object that causes me to trip. Also, my aunt enrolled me in this dancing class even though I have never danced in my life, and it was like an advanced class so I was trying to keep up but in the end I fell face first onto the floor.
