My favorite was this store in Chinatown ~ a little Korean newsagent that had really narrow isles that were really dark and dusty up the back. Really inexpensive cute bric-a-brac. Some funny rip-offs too.

^ Sorta depends what I'm doing, but generally I like Faber-Castell for both drawing and coloring. They're pretty good quality and not TOO expensive. And pencil-wise I love working with soft leads. Also Staedtler is pretty good with the softer leads. Anyway~

^ Even though it would never happen in any of our lifetimes (unless we happen to discover some lost alien technology on Mars that would forward our own technology hundreds of years, ala Mass Effect), I'd love on a planet somewhere in another solar system. Some planet that's a thriving metropolis at the height of technology spanning it's entire surface ~ with skyscrapers that go for kilometers into the skyline, and far far below them - where no being of means would dare tread - a seedy underbelly rife with crime.
