Do you have allergies????

Angel~

Then again, she said 'air' not oxygen...

thanks to Shineshan <3

`Roze`

Air is a mixture of things. It's about 21% Oxygen, 78% Nitrogen, and the other 1% is things like Argon, Carbon Dioxide, Dust, Pollen etc.

So therefore it'd be completely wrong (As in she'd be dead) if she was allergic to "Air". Because you need all those things to survive and have bodily functioning. Although I'm fairly sure it's not possible to be allergic to Oxygen and Nitrogen at all. They are just gases they don't attack your immune system like dust and pollen do.

Maybe she was being silly and meant she's allergic to everything (dust, pollen, etc) so it feels like she's allergic to air?  ???
Or she meant she's allergic to everything in the Air? And she just said it wrong.

Or she is just poorly informed. Hopefully some doctor didn't tell her that :swt:

This is the first I've actually looked in on this thread.

My huband's allergic to water.  It makes him itch horribly anytime he gets wet.  Drinking water makes him feel nauseous.  I'm allergic to salt water, but not salt nor water by itself.  So I break out whenever I sweat or if saliva touches me, or when I swim in the ocean.

I'm also allergic to at least 32 airborne allergens, anti-histamines (meaning I can't take anything for my other allergies), and a ton of contact allergens, including latex.
Currently:

Pau

dunno if its just me but i think i hav another allergy i dont know of. (or maybe its just my dust allergy again)  :swt:

Angel~

Wow, Dani! That is a lot O_O

You can get an allergy test done! I had one where they numbed up my arms then injected them with 32 different airborne allergens.  That's how I know I'm allergic to all of them.
:indotz:

Dust mites was such a bad reaction that it overwhelmed all the other "bubbles" and made this HUGE welt on my arm.  So you never know, it could be something really common that you don't realize! Bugs are another one; specifically rotting bug carcasses.  Like roaches.  Inside the walls of old houses.  Apparently a lot of people are allergic to that and no one guesses.

So said my ENT.  :bingo:

verdandi

Ah, I see.  My health insurance covered it, and covers the weekly allergy shots I get (since I can't take antihistamines, I have to get injected with my allergens until I form resistances to them).
Currently:

Angel~

Wow, that's so harsh that you have to get injected every week!

thanks to Shineshan <3

verdandi

Meh, it's not bad.  Having a bunch of things your body rejects injected into both shoulders hurts like HELL for about 5 minutes, then it's like whatever.  It would probably suck for someone who's afraid of needles, though!

Holy smokes! That is a lot of things to be allergic to! A lot of wierd/rare things as well. How does he take showers/drink? You need water to survive.

And to prevent yourself from not breaking out do you just never do intense physical activites? Or do you just break out and "deal with it"?

He showers everyday, but rarely more than once.  He just deals with the itching.  He tries to drink a lot of water, but more than a few glasses makes him sick, so some days he only drinks maybe two glasses and drinks tea or milk the rest of the day (which don't make him feel as bad).

I have to wash off quickly after I sweat, or I get a really bad, itchy rash.  Warm water is usually enough, but if it's a lot of sweat, I have to use soap.  I try to avoid letting dogs and cats lick me.  That one's easy though since I find saliva one of the grossest things on the planet.

But when you kiss you also exchange saliva...

This causes us to be a freak couple who 99% of the time only has "chaste" little kisses.  Occasionally it's more...intense, but normally we just peck peck peck each others' lips.  Otherwise my lips get SUPER chapped and start peeling.

Sorry for the mild TMI there, folks...

I find it really amusing that you guys are mourning my inability to french kiss often.  Like, this seriously cracks me up.

Y'all are awesome.  It's not such a big deal though, we got used to kissing like grade-schoolers ages ago.  And the rare "kiss with tongue" just means things are gettin' really special.  ROFL.

Anyways, that is one weird allergy. :P
I found out that i'm allergic to dragon fruit . . . i think that's what it was called . . . it look like a pineapple (meaning the color and texture, not the outside shell)

`Shally.

I ate something and i don't know is it that made me itch.
The ingredients had : Yeast, Peanut butter, caramel, and some other random coloring and stuff. My sister in law said I might be allergic to Yeast. :x I was neverallegic to it, but now i am D:

Angel~

Pau

btw, what made your sister-in-law think that the reason was yeast? ???

Angel~

Yeah, why yeast? You could be allergic to any of the substances you mentioned.

thanks to Shineshan <3

`Shally.

Because I eat the other ingredients daily and never had anything allergic to it. Plus I test it out yesterday. There was this Turkey Mini Bites Slim Jim and it also had yeast...and I got allergic reaction to it as well

-------------------------------------------------------------

Angel~

Oh, that's quite an inconvenient allergy!

thanks to Shineshan <3

Pau

does that mean your also allergic to bread? *i heard that bread has yeast right? ???

Angel~

could be, but every allergy has different types. For example, people can be allergic to milk, but not to cheese because the composition of the milk used in cheese is different.

thanks to Shineshan <3

`Roze`

That's really interesting Angel xD

I know someone who grew up on a Dairy farm and drank milk all her life and in the last year she become lactose intolerant. How strange is that?? So random xD

After I had my apendix removed I became lactose intolerant for a few weeks. But I took some lactase pills and after that it was fine and I haven't had an issue with milk since.

I'm also allergic to Benzyol Peroxide (leading ingredient in most acne medication) and nickle. Oh and some laundry detergents. Like Cholorix or Tide.

I recently started getting allergic to more raw stuff, especially in meat. It has to been like either overcooked or 100% cooked.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Angel~

That sucks, it really limits your choice of foods...

thanks to Shineshan <3

Aeya

Nope. I don't.
We'll, my teacher is allergic to eggs, and life has been really hard for her.

Angel~

Eggs is quite a difficult one, especially when considering baked goods, but thankfully it isn't incorporated in many general foods.
