Hello, all, I'm Miller. I'll probably be a variety of things around here at some time or another—proofreader, cleaner, typesetter, QCer (NEVER translator)—but for now I'm trying to proofread Galism. I joined because recruitment pages are apparently like kryptonite to me: they're powerful; they make me feel weak and somewhat guilty. I start to question my role as a human being with a firm grasp on English grammar and a legitimate copy of Photohop on my computer. So here I am, newest member! Guilt assuaged? Check.

A few random facts about me: I graduated from college with two art degrees. I have a mortgage. I'm thankfully and gainfully employed, which helps the previous fact immensely. I don't read comic books nearly as much as I used to, but when I do I'm an X-Men and Fables girl. I do play video games occasionally, and am partial to RPGs and things involving strategy more than shmupping.

Also, I'm probably older than 99% of you. For that reason (and laziness), you probably won't see very many emoticons in my post. Old School, Go!

(Disclaimer: I'm not mocking anyone, I just have a really dry personality. I swear, I'm nice-ish.)

I also prefer RPGs over stuff like Halo. What's your favorite video game?

Hmm, favorite video game? I'm not sure—maybe Suikoden III or Valkyria Chronicles? I like a good blend of strategy and RPG. My favorite franchises, though, are Final Fantasy, Katamari Damacy, Harvest Moon, Pikmin and Rock Band. I'd really like Dungeon Defenders to be released, but the wankers keep pushing it back.

I stopped being a leecher several months ago when I joined another scanlation group. Sorry to say, but Transcendence isn't my, um, first time. The guilt was just as overwhelming though!

FYI to all: I will probably forgo the kind invite to join Transcendence's Facebook because of two reasons: 1) I'm rarely on Facebook and it usually hurts my eyes when I am (insert cataracts/age joke here), and 2) I have a somewhat respectable front there and my so-called "friends" might find a manga association peculiar and questionable from a woman my age. Not that I don't have other peculiar and questionable hobbies, mind you, I just don't Facebook them either.

Haha, exactly. Another of the subtle strategies they use to pull on readers' emotions. If you're looking for community, Transcendence is a pretty good place for that. ^_^

I'm Ruraine, occasional CN-EN translator (and emergency JP-EN/SFX translator for Lily). Maybe we'll work together on a project someday?

Also, in terms of personal information, I have just graduated with a Commerce and an Arts degree, regrettably don't have a mortgage yet, have finally secured respectable employment for next year, and currently moonlight as a sessional tutor for one class of college kids. Don't worry, you're probably only around my age =/

Hi, Ruraine! A pleasure to meet you. I'm still betting I'm quite older if you just graduated, but my immaturity will probably make up the difference.

When I signed on, it was to work on Men's Kou, Galism and Ai wo Chodai in some capacity. Are you on any of those teams?

Congrats on the respectable employment! And I like how you said "regrettably" about not having a mortgage. It's funny how you reach a certain age and are almost desperate to be saddled with those adulthood milestones like houses and retirement funds.

Hmmm I used to work on Galism, but these days I don't have the time to translate from scratch any more, so I just double check new translations for whatever series Lily summons me to. That, or do SFX for random series like Ojousama wa Oyomesama and Ryuu no Hanawazurai. I might return to full-time translating in November though =D maybe then.

And yes... I'm waiting desperately until I can afford the 20% downpayment on an apartment, and then the blissful life of paying your own mortgage (INSTEAD of renting and paying someone else's mortgage) begins <3

I know. I hated renting, especially around tax time. I also really love doing home improvements and it chafed to have my hands tied in that area as a renter.

I say, you remind me of someone I used to know. You weren't "jabbberwocky" or "invocations" in another life, were you?

LOL I love doing home improvements too. Or rather, I go crazy in home furnishing stores and linen places. Do I need MORE bedsheets? Not really, but I'll buy new ones anyway <3 Should I look at MORE pots and pans? Oooohhhh maybe I should get a casserole dish hmmm <3

My partner says that bringing me to any store (except for sports equipment stores) is like bringing a child to candy land... T_T that's another reason I want that mortgage, money tied up is money well invested.
