Lifestyle / Re: Big Mistakes!!!

Ahh, regrets... mine is probably not taking a gap year after finishing high school. Or deferring in the middle of my course to do something else that was not studying.

There were quite a few reasons which I decided not to do it, but I think the main one was that I was chicken. Many "what ifs" worried me, and so rather than do what I wanted, I did what my parents wanted (which was quickly finish my studies and then find a good job). But studying burns you out so much. @___@ And there are a lot of things I want to do before I tie myself down with work and other things. Reflecting on this, I am most likely going to travel and do a few things for a couple of years after I graduating! Hopefully, hahah.

Lifestyle / Re: Do you have allergies????

Hahah, hayfever. It's annoying because I have to take meds for it everyday. And on the days I forget, it seems the symptoms are 5x worse than usual. Spring should be awesome (the sun actually comes out, can I can bring out them skirts!), but it's at least 50% suffering. xDD;;;

I'm also allergic to certain seafoods and cats. ><

...eh? Soybeans? Does that mean tofu is a definite no-no?

Manga / Re: Does anyone here read retro manga?

Ahh, I read a bit of Akatsuki no Aria just the other day - it is a recent(-ish) manga, but the pacing, storyline and character types is quite similar to the ones that you may find in the old shoujo. It's still serialising too! It's not bad, I sort of like it; but I just thought it was interesting how you can still find manga that resemble the retro ones even today. ;>

Ryu's wallpaper looks really relaxing~ 8')

Mine is a one of Karakuri Odette! The colours are pretty funky, and I like how she looks so tough and anti-social she looks here - completely different from her actual character, haha. Can't remember where I found it though. ;A;

Granted! But then because you left a day earlier than scheduled, your bus got caught behind a street carnival and had to take a ridiculous 5 hour detour...

I wish I were taller!

So many different Chinese dialects spoken here. *___*

Um, other than English I can understand food related dialogues in Mandarin, insult people in Cantonese and speak basic Teochew, though my accent is honestly atrocious. I've heard natives of the language speak it and I sound totally different to them. Perhaps I can call it pseudo-TeoChew? OTL

I'm also studying Japanese. Hoping to get N2 by the end of this year~ (m-manga is a great motivator, lol  :hmmm:) And I want to learn French or Spanish or maybe try my hand at Korean again.

Granted! But it is still cold outside and you need to leave the house anyway.

I wish to eat the most delicious creme brulee.

Manga / Re: Does anyone here read retro manga?

Ahh, I've tried Glass Mask, but the drawing style is a bit too much for me - especially since the series is soooo long!

Mmm, I've also read Chizumi to Fujiomi. It's not bad; short, pretty sweet and very shoujo-esque. I've also read Thomas' Heart by Hagio Moto. I liked it, but I also disliked it because of the ending which was ultimately a very logical and fitting ending, but well... haha. ;;;;

Mmm, Rose of Versailles is a classic, and I can see why! And I've read a bit of Sazae-san too. This kind of nichijou manga is pretty relaxing to read and makes you notice things in your life you've not seen before.

In short, I don't mind old mangas, but I think the ones from the 70s are a little hard for me to emphasise with, character-wise. I don't feel so unhappy at their pain, and their triumphs don't make me as excited as I usually am. But I felt that they were worth reading, all in all. ;>

LOL, sleep. Pretty sure I've gone on my laptop intending to read only a chapter or two only to find myself two/three hours later still reading... JUST WHAT HAPPENS IN THOSE HOURS THAT PASSES SOMETIMES I AM TOO TIRED TO REMEMBER. 8')

Anyway, I usually plow through, if there are chapters avaliable. I only remember stopping for three mangas - the first is Mekakushi no Kuni when I cried in the first chapter; the second is in Inuyasha
when Kagura died that so very ironic and tragic death ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; and the last was in the Korean webcomic Cheese in the Trap during that so very awkward moment in chapter 35. I... could not bring myself to scroll down - it was quite a challenging chapter. *__*;;
