Who gets drawn to the really weird but awesome manga? Some of my favorites involve time/dimension travel [Kanata Kara, Anatolia Story] Or a wild fantastic setting [Legend of Basara (<3)] Or crazy battles, some of which are political, which I find ironic since I'm not into my own country's politics.
Also...
Magic Knight Rayeart
And absolutely anything by Arina Tanemura.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! :touched:
Anatolia Story and Basara are two of my favourites! I like futuristic settings like Crazy Tokyo Paradise or 7 seeds too! (if you havent caught on I looooooove long series). And I am also quite sad its been close to two years since a chapter of Amakusa 1637 came out. I just spent a uni semester studying that shizz
I LOVE Tokyo Crazy Paradise!!! I passed it up twice before finally getting to the second chapter, but I'm so glad I did. Never read 7 seeds.
I nearly passed on TCP because the first chapter took soooo long to read, but after the first volume I was hooked. 7 seeds is a surprisingly accurate tale about the future of the world (at least what I think will happen anyway, same author as Basara, why I started reading it)
I also missed your comment about Arina Tanemura. Full Moon o Sagashite is amazing! Still getting through Sakurahime
Yes. And the story just thew me off. But I kept going back to it.
I love Full Moon and Time Stranger Kyoko. Some of my favs. I started Sakurahime, but lost my place. I want to read Idol. Almost bought it the other day in the bookstore.
I haven't read Time Stranger Kyoko yet, should put it on my list. Not exactly a time travel manga but its so old and ongoing Glass Mask would nearly count? Love that 70s art
TSK does have time travel in it, but it's not the center of the story. I've heard of Glass Mask...
WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT ISN'T DONE?! I thought for sure it would be by now. I admit to liking some of the older stuff too. Haven't read many though, unless Ranma 1/2 counts.
Yes, Glass Mask still going, 49 volumes and counting, although its been 2 years since anything was released in Japan, it is still ongoing (something about indefinite break)
Suzue Miuchi is one of those mangaka's who kind of writes and releases chapters when she feels like it, but when you have an ongoing series of 39 years, i think you can do whatever you want. It is going to end "soon", but she said that in like...2009
I forgot about this one: Ouke no Monshou https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=2836
"The main character is Carol, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed American teenager from a wealthy family with an interest in Egyptology studying in Cairo. When her mentor discovers the tomb of a young pharaoh, a curse is put on the excavation team and Carol. The curse sends her back in time to ancient Egypt, where she becomes embroiled in the affairs of Egypt and other ancient countries such as Assyria and Babylonia. Carol meets Memphis, a handsome young pharaoh whose tomb she excavated in modern times. Despite his headstrong, at first violent nature, they fall deeply in love. This angers Memphis's half-sister, the Priestess Isis, who has longed to marry him. Carol, due to her exotic looks and curious ability to tell the future, becomes a major player in ancient history."
Started in 1976, still ongoing and 60 volumes deep...
That sounds so interesting... but so long... and so not complete.... Really wanna read............................... Probably shouldn't.............................................................
:'(
Haha dont worry, friendship scans are only up to about chapter 60ish (unless you can read the raws)
I'm curious as to how one can create 60 volumes of shoujo plots
No kidding. I mean, some can last a while, like Skip Beat, but even that will end someday.
P.S I read Kanata Kara last week and I have been missing out, not just that series, but the mangaka
YUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I love it when the girl is starting to learn the language. :)
Yeah its a good plot but the girl is like my least favourite type of character :'(
I can understand, she is probably the most bland of the characters. My favorite was the dude.
i liked the bad dude with the side ponytail, he was my favourite character, just all chill until the last volume when he completely loses it
XD
OMG YESSS! I really love those historical mangas or anything with different dimensions. I've recently read The Queen's Servant. It has the same feeling as Kanata Kara.

Oooooh. I might have to try that one.
The art is quite nice, but I never really got absorbed by the story, maybe I ought to give it another shot...
