Title: Just Girly Things
Post by: Arr-chan on March 23, 2014, 18:33
Okay, so I am going to start a rant about Bras. in particular the little wire thing that is under the bra cup that pokes you in the side and make you feel like you are wearing a mini torture device. Yeah, that thing. IT MAKES ME WANT TO MURDER THINGS BECAUSE IT SUCKS. :angry1: it is very painful and I don't like it. I mean, I know it helps the cups stay in shape or whatever, but it seriously hurts cuz it constantly pokes you in the armpit or the boob and it like ENOUGH ALREADY DAMMIT.  :haix: I'm sorry, but I just had to rant about this.. sorry if its a little inappropriate. :swt:

Yeah' it hurts soooo much...

So, whenever I buy under-wired bra, I usually took-off the wire...I just need the bra cup size, not the wire because it hurts and usually it deforms it shape.

That just means that you have wrong bra. I buy quite expensive ones and get advised before I get one.
I've never had problems with the wire poking me.

Well, apparently after you've had the bra for a little bit the wire come unsecured and starts moving around, which is why I get poked. its really annoying.

I've had some for quite some time and that never happened. I can imagine it happening, but I think the quality of the cloth it is made out of and fastened with is more important here?

Probably  :=X:

i'm with angel! i've rarely had wire issues :o the only time i ever had a wire problem was when i bought a (really pretty) bra on ebay from china. it looked really nice but you could tell the material wasn't that great and wire started poking out after maybe 3-4 months. SO SAD.

if you guys are having wire poking you into the side then you should consider getting re-fitted? several major department stores offer those services.

Yeah, I should consider the quality next time.,

I have never actually been fitted. And my mom kind of has bought my bras up til now so.. I kind of don't know how to tell the difference between a good one and a bad one.. :swt:

oh, if you're having problems with the wire digging into your sides then you'll definitely want to get fitted for the first time xD it's probably the thing causing the issue. I actually used to be really lazy and use my mom's bras instead of buying my own, and she's a size above me in length so that was just really uncomfortable for a while. There are different sizes for a reason! Once I started getting ones that actually fit, I looked and felt better >.>

I wouldn't doubt it  :=X: I probably should. I just don't really know where to go to get that done. should I google it? ???

most stores will size you Arr, like i know Belk's, JCPenny, and Rue 21 (during swimsuit season) does sizing.

Or just your lingerie store? I don't know if it is that common in the US and stuff, but we have like 2 of them in my town.
They will give your correct size and recommend a certain type of bra that will suit you best.
I've bought my own since I was like 14? My mom went with me before that, but you get the hang of it.
Before I ever got fitted, I always had too small bras, when I finally got the right size, I agree with nielle, you look and feel better instantly!

ok well whatever you do, DON'T USE VICTORIA'S SECRET for sizing. they're always off for some reason... their bras aren't exactly standard sizes everywhere else you might end up buying.

haha i had the opposite problem, all of mine were slighly large. i was using a 34 and i'm a 32... so much more comfortable when i finally switched.

Um.. unfortunately we don't have lingerie stores.. at least none that I know of. But we have a JC Penny's and Rue 21. They might do it? but I dunno. Yeah, I've heard that it feels so much better after you get sized.

where do you live? there have to be lingerie stores lmao... women aren't really a demographic you can ignore. jcpenney, macys, nordstrom all do sizing!

I live in America, in Pennsylvania. In a little town called Uniontown. and I googled it. The nearest lingerie store is about an hour away. :noway:

Quite. Maybe you could just ask him to let you shop alone in that town for while, during which time he can go get some coffee?

I've had bra wire poking at my side a few times but it didn't bother me too much. I usually just push it back in :=D: but the right thing to do is to stop wearing it and find a new, better ones :)

My mom and big sis usually buy it for me (and I'm 25 FYI  :woohehe:) so sometimes it's a bit too big, some other times, it's too small. Anyway, I usually discard the small ones or gave it to my big sis. She used smaller size...and kept the big ones. Often, a week before menstruation, my breasts are kinda...uh...bigger...plumper...whatever the term was lol. The point is, at least a few days a month, I'll need bigger size than usual so two sizes work for me XD

It's said that the right bra for you won't cause you discomfort. You won't even feel like wearing one!

I dunno much about awkward but my dad never mind going to lingerie section. It's actually quite common in my place to find men accompanying women to buy such things. But if you feel weird, why not ask your girl friends to help you? :)

My dad would have to pay for them though.. that and I've encountered some unfortunate experiences in the past, so he is not one to leave me alone period.  And my dad doesn't even like going to find bras with my mom. She's one of those huge sizes that you can't really find anywhere, or something..

@yen_claire  well, I'd ask my friends, but they might find it weird  :=X: the period thing is unfortunate. I don't really have to deal with those kinds of problems...

I don't mind the period sign...but it's uncomfy most of the times. A bump in the ride equals pain.

Anyway...I wonder how hard it is to say "Hey, I need a new bra. Come help me buy some." Eh...maybe it's just my culture??? My friends and I often buy bras or panties together...lol.

yeah, my friends and i discuss bras/panties all the time HAHA especially when it comes to sales! i love gilly hicks but they closed shop in the US so now they're only available online ><

SALE!!! Definitely girl's haven! I rarely buy panties because my mom often send me a bunch of them. I like to buy bra though. Never one to have specific brand in mind, as long as it's sale, I usually pick a few cute ones & soft materials, regardless of the brands  :woohehe:

Wacoal often do big sale here :p

I don't mind the wires in the bra, but only when its like leaving marks on my body, then that's when I care.
Title: Re: Just Girly Things
Post by: Arr-chan on April 04, 2014, 00:08
My friends and I usually don't... well, i guess it just depends on which ones I'm with  :=X: Yeah, i don't usually worry about brands too much, but thats usually because there is a price difference when you start talking about brands. Like Victoria's Secret stuff? Not only does it have its own type of bra sizing system, all their stuff is super expensive.  :swt:

New topic: Period.
I have mines twice a month, meaning it happens once a week in the beginning of the month and another week at the end of the month.
Title: Re: Just Girly Things
Post by: Arr-chan on April 07, 2014, 13:42
I feel so bad for you  :touched: I get mine like, maybe once every 5 months or so for like a day...
Title: Re: Just Girly Things
Post by: sleepyviolets on April 07, 2014, 16:11
you should get that checked lol. might be able to get some pills to regulate your cycle or something. some of my friends have that problem.

mine's the opposite - i'm more likely to skip months. they last for 4-5 days so that's alright, but my regular time between periods is around 60-70 days... and the lowest it's been in recent years is 35 days.

@_@!! You guys should go and check it to doctor! My period is around 30-35 days but I regularly got it every month
Title: Re: Just Girly Things
Post by: Jess on April 07, 2014, 21:01
Yea y'all should go to the doctor. because I started having my every 6 months. So, I went and the doctor told me that if you are not on birth control pills or shots to make your peroid happen like that, you should go to the doctor. You could run into a lot of problems in the long run.

From what i see, you guys are better off than me. Mines about twice a year (ussually in september and febuary) with an interval of 3 days.  :swt:

Um, I have hypo-active thyroid, so I take pills that make mine like that. Gome, I should have explained  Unfortunately, Instead of having a period, I have to get my blood drawn about every month. It sucks because I hate needles. :touched:

@Pau, twice a year?! That's not healthy!!! You should go see a doctor...

I take the pill to control my cycle, but if I keep taking them for about 5-6 weeks straight, I'm gonna get my period anyway. I used to be in incredible pain for a week, but ever since I started taking the pill, I only really feel something for 1 day and not even that bad!
