Title: Wikipedia... The biggest spoiler of life.
Post by: Aurelia on August 19, 2013, 00:53
I really need to rant about this right now... THAT SITE IS JUST TOO TEMPTING. Countless mangas and comics have been spoiled for me by that site.

It happens to me again and again no matter how hard I try to resist. Something bores me in a manga's plot or I'm curious about a character. And then my curiosity gets the best of me and makes me search it up on one of those Wikia sites. And soon enough... I'm frustratingly yelling, ranting and crying about how I can never unsee what I had just seen.

Take just now, for example. I was reading ToG, and I was curious about when a character was going to show up again because I got impatient (Stupid STUPID OWLIA). Despite my bad experiences with spoilers on that site, I searched him up anyway. And soon I clicked on another name and BAM. BIGGEST SPOILER POSSIBLE.

  :omg: :crywithno:  >:(  *dead  :noway:

Anyone else been a victim?

Er, I actually like spoilers, so sometimes I read Wikipedia just to learn what to expect. :swt:

But I definitely do know how addicting that site is.  I frequently go on there to look up something random like Elephant's Man Disease (why? WHY NOT??), and end up spending two hours researching bone growth and calcification, rare diseases, etc.  Do I have any reason to do this other than ADD and a desire to absorb any and all information I can? NOPE.

So. Much. Random. Information!!

Heh, actually I used to not mind/actually seek out spoilers like dandi, but lately I've been not like them as much... they sort of take the fun out of everything. Like Neon Genesis Evangelion... I watched the three movies before I watched the series, and they left me super confused because they skipped over a LOT of things in the series (that I realize now that I've begun to watch the series...). And because of that, I had initially thought I would never watch the series so I read the wikipedia and spoiled myself. LITTLE DID I KNOW I WOULD DECIDE TO PICK UP THE SERIES, and now it's mostly ruined for me because I already know what happens/all the plot twists. orz

I have sometimes used it researching a new manga I might want to pick up and ending up reading the whole story... No need to read the manga then, too bad of new opportunities...

But wikipedia is very convenient for other subjects, just not manga, people forget to put the word spoiler in there...
