We talk about what we've JUST eaten... What about the best thing you have ever eaten?
The Worst?
The Weirdest?
The best thing I have ever eaten was... Well that changes everyday. :goodmood: I don't really have a worst either, but I have eaten some pretty strange things. Jellyfish, pigs blood, frogs legs, snails... Those are just part of my list. :goodjob:
Anyone else? (And apologies if this is a duplicate thread ^^;;)
I think silk worms are the weirdest thing I've ever eaten :P
I can't decide on the best and the worse xD
:omg: You can eat silkworms?!
Yep. They actually taste pretty good hahaha
(http://static.asiawebdirect.com/m/bangkok/portals/bangkok-com/homepage/magazine/eating-insects/allParagraphs/0/scaledImage/image.jpg)
Yum, that does look good... :o_o:
Weirdest: duck fetus or pig's blood (at least I think it was).
Best: chocolate mousse or pork dumplings.
Worst: some shiz I can't even name.
Duck fetus...? You can eat that...?
Sure can. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balut_(egg)) << Not for the faint-hearted.
Surprisingly delicious despite how gross it sounds.
When you have a lot of Filipino friends who eat crazy shiz... Eating dares. Eating dares everywhere.
^ LOL welcome to the life...
ooohhh~ so there's also balot in Australia?
Best: Real Italian tiramisu. At least, that's how I feel right this moment, but there are a lot of foods I've eaten and loved.
Worst: Broccoli-cheese soup. Even just the smell of broccoli makes me gag horribly.
Weirdest: Escargot, er, straight from the sea and still alive. On a dare.
That sounds... slimy...
It was mostly just salty.
@Pau
There's a large Filipino community here so of course. I've also tasted your roasted pork (lechon?) because of that and I thought that was pretty cool.
@Ver
!!! I want to try escargot one day. For the experience. xD
Lechon is delicious! The first time I ate balot, no one told me what it was... heh. :swt:
Usually i don't eat Balot since my tooth aches when I eat one :swt:
Haha, Lia. I think it's better if you don't know your first time, I reckon.
And that's some weird tooth you have there, Pau...
I know :swt:
best: tiramisu
worst: monggo sprout?
weirdest: kohol(snale), snake ( forgot the name), tongue , Bopis, and dinuguan i guess?
dinuguan => made from pig/chicken blood.
Bopis => made from lungs
don't be fooled by the indredients cuz their really tastey! In fact, you won't even be able to think at was made from them.
Blood tastes pretty good even if it does sound gross :=D:
what is a monggo sprout? and bopis too?
Ahhhh filipino food. Forever weird. xD
How weird is it?
It can be very very weird at times... but its forever yummy!
I think that's due to its tropical-ness. xD
The only tongue I've eaten is beef tongue, and it's very tasty when braised very slowly and made into tacos!
I have never had blood, but marrow is one of the most delicious things I've put in my mouth.
Oh I've never had beef tongue :P I've had duck tongue before though.
either way. they're tasty :goodjob:
Bone marrow is delicious! :goodmood:
Is it strange that this thread is making me hungry?
*is a midwest american...*
Food adventures do not figure into my diet, even if I want them.
anyone person who's ever read this post would either puke or drool.
me? i vote for drool.
I vote drool as well :P
I vote puke... :swt:
awwww~
isn't there at least one dish in this post that you like? like maybe cow tounge?
Lots of weird things are actually very yummy! You just have to look past the uh... weirdness.
Mutton balls :=X:
I don't eat that much weird things !! It was during summer vacations, and I don't know if it tasty or not. Let's say it was weird.
(Like huge white mushrums not cooked enough :wahaha:)
My policy when trying something I have a feeling will be made with something that will gross out my euro-american self: taste and then don't ask what went in it, especially if it's yummy.
That is REALLY smart. Too bad I didn't think of that before I tried balot... :swt:
well almost all the weird stuff i've eaten looked really normal
Favorite policy: just don't ask and enjoy the food.
Well, since most of this stuff is part from animals, I don't eat it anyway, so I guess not my concern? *skip
*So glad to be a vegetarian right now*
There's lots of strange pickled and fermented veggies out there Angel, don't worry, you're not left out!
:'(
Strange... pickled... vegetables? ???

Strange... pickled... vegetables? ???
not a vegetable but my grandma is pickling watermelon rind :P never knew you could eat that...
Woah interesting... Pickled watermelon rind...
O.o
Apparently it was really sour! xD
huh. weird.
I don't really think I'd call it weird though :swt:
Why not?
I never knew you could eat watermelon rind LOL.
Me neither...
Once my mom made me a smoothie! It was so nice of her! I took a sip from the straw...
And THAT was when she decided to tell me it was made of kale, spinach, and other strange things... :swt:
:swt: Did it at least taste decent?
:vomit:
weirdest thing I ever ate was a snake and turtle soup. It tasted horrible.
It looked like black jelly so I was up for it but it was bitter and urghhhhhh :vomit: :vomit: :vomit:
best thing ever is good quality sushi
Snake and turtle soup that looks like jelly... interesting... :swt:
I remember being on the plane towards Australia and we had gotten out of Shanghai and we got this white, hot, jellyish stuff with a lost shrimp in there and it was so weird!!
You mean this?
sounds kinda like you were describing :P
^LOL but those are so yummy! <3
No, it was a bowl filled with that white stuff...
LOL...
I haven't heard that before...
:swt:
I have no idea what that is...
Maybe it's actual jellyfish? I've had that before! :swt:
No, it wasn't... Just really weird...
best:anything chicken duh
worst: dog meat when i was 6 *dead
weird: ....actually nothing yet though....
dog meat...i think they're also used in korea
mostly we have frogs, bat and horse meat that's weird (and eaten) here.
oh and i think mice are included too
Mice? :swt:
yup. I think I saw it on TV once.
On a cooking show or something? :swt:
more like the documental types.
Yeah, you tend to see stuff like that on those shows
:omg: the poor mousie-poo!
Bat also freaks me out a little...
rumour has it that dog meat tastes like lamb.
:vomit:
:swt:
poor doggies :crywithno:
BAT MEAT?! O.O
how does that even work? >.>
...bat? you can eat bats? :swt:
Apparently... *dead
Now I want to know what bat tastes like...
It probably tastes like... ionno... Chicken?
I mean I swear, everytime there is something weird, people say it tastes like chicken! xD
LOL if everything tastes like chicken then what does chicken taste like?
Er...
Chicken? :swt:
Maybe those weird things are just chickens in disguise?
maybe :/
I've heard that cicadas are quite tasty, apparently one of their names is Land Shrimp. Since I'm allergic to shrimp but I like them this makes me curious.
*chirp* *chirp*
:noway: But land shrimp is just a name! It might not even taste like shrimp!
:swt:
True, I hardly think they are shrimp..
But let us know, zephzeph xD I'm curious too!
Me too...
Anyone eat any bugs? My cousin came back one day and gave me a lollipop with a bug in the center ^^;;
nope. what did it taste like?
Nope, was it real or fake?
nope, I don't think your cousin put the bug there on purpose
No, they actually make lolipops with bugs in the center! Actual bugs! >.>
See? http://www.bugshop.com.au/images/New%20Creature%20Candy.jpg
o_____o that is weird... I wonder what they taste like xD
...my guess is candy, then bug, then candy...
Uhh what does bug taste like...?
ZOMFG I would not eat that unless they irradiated and sterilised those things, even after they do that, I still WON'T eat those things
I think that is a bit creepy with all those legs and you know...
:vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :vomit:
:cold: The idea of eating those... :vomit:
try eating crickets. :D it taste like chips crunchy, and juicy.
I tried one before, but I was disgusted. It taste nice, but still its not my thing.
O_O somehow you are promoting them, even though you were disgusted?
yeah crickets are NG NG
on the other hand, as live octopus I had once in singapore, it was disgusting how it wriggled down your throat but it actually does taste pretty good too.
My step-mom (uni bio prof) used to make her students stir-fried crickets and most people tried them. Apparently when your prof tells you to do something 80% of you will. :=X:
Wow... I don't know if I would though...
That would a be a fun game to play ; for a king/jack card game.
blob, octopus is at least better than bugs
creepy crawlers.
btw, does octopu taste different from squid? ???
^ I wouldn't know about that.
But the best thing I've eaten in the last two weeks was... my Mum's cooking. *q*
Best thing in a week or so was that tiny piece of carrotcake that I so wholeheartedly enjoyed in secret
the best thing i've eaten was a Taro Green Tea Waffle [asian style, its like as big as your/my/his/her/them face]
EDIT REASON: I put the wrong flavor name, LOL
That sounds so interesting!
The best thing I've eaten the whole week: KFCCCCCCCCCCCCC. Spicyyyyy chicken. With mashed potato and gravyyyy. All crispy and scrumptious. *drool*
Fastfood. Yech.
How can you not like fastfood?! Yeah, ok. I'm unhealthy. But I love it. *skip
Weirdest things:
A bug and blu-tack.
I didn't actually swallow either of them.
Just put them in my mouth and crunched around. (Unintentionally of course!)

I used to like fastfood, but I stopped eating fat things, and now whenever I eat something too fat I get terrible stomachaches... I do love my pizza though!
It turned out that I have a high percentage of cholesterol in my blood, so fat is very unhealthy for me...
hehe...thats one of my guilty pleasures... :swt: :teardrop:
pizza is my love <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
Best thing is probably any dessert with ice cream and whipped cream.
Like chocolate waffles/pancakes or pecan pie. <3
Pancakes soaked in nutella

That sounds.. DELICIOUS! And I'm not even all that crazy for nuttella (I like it but I don't want it on every dang thing I eat, like some people XD)
I don't really know what the best thing I've eaten is but...
The weirdest thing: charcoal. :'(
The most disgusting thing: Spider. :vomit:
I was forced to eat both above by my "friends". They said they wouldn't play with me if I didn't do it, and I was young and desperate for friends. Oh how I wish I knew then what I know now... :haix:

That was just pure bullying and humiliation. They weren't my friends and I was too young to realize I was barking up the wrong tree looking for some.
Worst: hot dog
I don't like school's hot dog, because the coloring looks weird. The meat is like pinkish/redish/whiteish. And the bread was very powerdery.

Kiri, I have no idea how you got blu-tack on your food but you should probably sue your chef for negligence. xD
Heh. I wish I could a blame a chef rather than my own stupidity.
The blu-tack incident happened when I was 12. It was a small piece of blu-tack my friend and I had used as play-doh. After having our grimy hands on it the whole day, we finally molded it into a curry puff (some kind of pastry), coloured it with highlighters and drew on it with pens. It was disgustingly dirty. After that I left it on my desk. Later that night, I went to my room to grab something and didn't bother to turn on the lights. I was eating a biscuit at the same time, and as I leaned over my table, I accidentally dropped my biscuit. So I groped about the table and found something that was the same size as my biscuit. And, without even checking, I popped it straight into my mouth. It took me about a second before I realised that something didn't taste right.
The beetle incident happened 6 years after the blu-tack one, but it was almost the exact same thing; I was sitting in the corner of my room reading a book and eating seaweed. I dropped a small piece of it but didn't want to take my eyes of my book. So I glanced quickly at the floor where I dropped it, saw something vaguely seaweed coloured, PICKED IT UP, and popped it into my mouth. I didn't even realise anything was wrong until I crunched on it and was like, "Wait... it's a bit too crunchy." AND THEN IT POKED MY TONGUE WITH ITS LEG! D:
I don't even know how I managed to confuse a beetle with seaweed. It was a pretty big beetle (bigger than my thumb).
Lol. In 6 years I went from confusing a piece of blu-tack with a biscuit to confusing a beetle with seaweed. I guess I just get smarter the older I get.

There are pills, but then you have to be on them for the rest of your life and I don't particularly enjoy that prospect.

i kinda agree with that, once i though of buying a medicine that can enhance memory but my friends told me not to since id have to take it every day else my memory would go bad .--.
I feel that nobody should be taking pills if they don't really have to. It's unhealthy.

Pills don't actually work at all. It's just that you had to be healthy in order to be better. Like for me, I don't take pills, I just exercise and eat the right things to get rid of my whatever sickness I am under. Well except for those who has later major problems, like asthma or some other diseases, they had to go under like major pills/ointment or something.
OT: The worst thing that happened is that my parents don't love me anymore.
Why?
Best: a fresh from the oven donut from Krispy Creme. Krispy Creme is an American donut factory/shop in Pennsylvania and their donuts are the best things ever. Orgasm in your mouth. SERIOUSLY. its worth the calories. They also give out free donuts when they are making a fresh batch.
Worst: hmmm... tuna or mayo. I don't like either.
Weirdest: I don't think i have one that's super weird. If I can't name it, its not going anywhere near my mouth. ??? truthfully, I don't think I've eaten anything weird... unless mud counts. but that was accidental.
Why tuna and mayo? ???
well, tuna because I don't like fish in general except for salmon. Mayo because i don't only not like the taste, but when i was in elementary school, my mother said that it was a great conditioner so me (and my 3 sisters) all had to sleep with bags on our heads because our mother had put mayo in our hair to sit overnight. Not only does mayo get crusty after staying out all night, IT SMELLS BAD. :omg: it is really really gross. that, and my mom tossed mayo at my face when I upset her because I told her i wasn't putting that crap in my hair again.
<.< you're only supposed to leave it in for 15 minutes from what I've heard... any longer doesn't get you any further effects.

well now you tell me... that would have been so awesome to know 7 years ago. I now have to tell my mother that so she doesn't traumatize my younger sisters with mayo too :=X: Thank you
that is one funny yet awkward moment ^^;
OT:
worst would be mung bean sprout i guess. they stink :vomit:
What is that? I don't know what that is. and apparently most hated foods are brussel sprouts and some kind of weird looking fish ???

Why?
I've done so many bad things to the point where it breaks my parents' hearts.
My dinner tonight was the worst ever.
Stir-fried chicory with dried plums and vinegar. DON'T EVER EAT THIS.
