Title: Rich Man, Poor Woman
Post by: verdandi on December 26, 2012, 00:36
I just finished watching this and really liked it.  Has anyone else seen it?  If you like JDramas, I really recommend it!

You can stream it on Good Drama: http://www.gooddrama.net/japanese-drama/rich-man-poor-woman :love:

Edit: Changed the link to Good Drama since Drama Crazy shut down.

I started watching it and I'm a few episodes in. I'm not sure what I think yet.

It's gets better as it goes.  I really like the subtle side story between Yasuoka and the pretty, ditzy secretary girl.

I was considering whether or not to watch it, but I didn't quite like the introduction that they wrote there...

The introduction isn't really accurate.  He doesn't really push people away so much as he does his own thing and doesn't follow the Japanese standard of being extra courteous.  He has a very American mentality and to Japanese sensibilities, that counts as being full of flaws.
:=X:

And even though it's called "Rich Man, Poor Woman," it actually focuses less on their financial status and more on the boss-underling relationship.  He doesn't at all treat people like they are out to get his money, and he's not an overly extravagant person.  He's just someone who doesn't connect well to people and happens to have made a lot of money with his business.  Meanwhile, she is someone who does connect well to people but can't find a job until he hires her.

I'll look into that one! Right now I'm on "Flower Boy Next Door" and it's hilarious.  I'll put a separate thread about it though.

I like the opening song, I'm literally addicted to listening to that catchy tune.

Yes! It's an awesome some.  The acoustic English version of it is nice, too (and was a major pain in the ass to find).

Acoustic English version:
http://v-files.net/temp/transcendence/miwa-Hikari_e_Acoustic_English_Version.mp3 (http://v-files.net/temp/transcendence/miwa-Hikari_e_Acoustic_English_Version.mp3)

This particular version was in the show but so hard to find - it was live and included Miwa saying her name and the song title in the beginning, but I cut that out since I like to loop songs while I work and that was distracting.

In my attempts to find it I also found the original version, an English remix, a piano version, an acoustic (Japanese) version, and an instrumental version (also used in the series).  The single also includes a song called "Napa" that's used in the show.  I got the single via torrent.

Edit: Yes, I have all of them.  If you want, I can zip them all up and upload that as well.  I'm not super obsessed with the song, I just have trouble deleting files acquired when I was scouring the internet for ONE SINGLE MP3.
