Title: typesetting test - saving
Post by: nanchan14 on October 04, 2011, 21:12
Hi Guys :hi:

I'm doing the test for editor. Actually i've just finished the typesetting test and i'm about to save. According to your instructions, we must save in psd and png. I suppose you want the psd with all the layers uncombined.
The thing is in the instructions it says to save in grayscale 32 colors.  When i do this it automatically flattens the art, so i try saving first as PNG and then apply the 32 color grayscale mode but it doesn't let me save in PNG.

I'm asking in case this is important for you, because in the cleaning test's instruction it wasn't specified like that. I mean the 32 color thing.

Thanxx.

When you save the images as .png, all the layers will automatically flatten and it's supposed to be like that. That's why you also send us the .psd so that we can see all the layers :D I hope this is what you were talking about. xD

Thanxx, Yep i know that by saving as PNG the art will flatten, no prob there.

???  It's  just that if i apply 32 color bit channel on the file, whether is PSD or PNG version once i trie to save (as) it only shows like 4 extensions (psd, tiff, pbm, psb) but no PNG.

Tried different ways: Saving as from the psd (with the 32 color applied) = no saving option.

Apply the color mode to an already saved PNG = no saving option

Don't know if this has something to do with it but recently I installed photoshop cs5, and now for every image i open it asks for color profile.  I tried fixing this on preferences, but haven't found it.    *stress Sigh sometimes newer doesn't mean better right?

We don't save it in 32 color bit (only if there are too many shades of gray). We usually save it in 16. Did you follow the saving instructions: http://forum.ourtranscendence.com/index.php?topic=1915.0 and save it as 'Save For Web & Devices'? Let me know if this is what you're talking about xD

Thank you Candyness, i'll save it as 16 bit then.  Btw the topic in the link seems to be either missing or off limits to me.  Well since i'm a newbie.  :hmmm:

I'm following the instructions attached to the test.  In one of the documents said "Save as PNG-8, grayscale, 32 colours. Zip (.zip, not .rar) and upload", hence my confusion.

Now i just have to finish saving to upload it.

thanxx again.

We look forward to seeing your test! :D (We probably have already, but gosh, I have to say it.)
