I don't mean to be negative to the fans, either, but I think it's about time to be considerate of us scanlators. A lot of us are in exams right now, so the increasing whining is only making us more stressed (and convinced NOT to give you the next installment of a series.) Please, no whining. Most of these felt less like annoying "hurry ups" and more like supportive comments and honest questions, at least to me, who has only recently graduated from leechhood. Although there have been a lot recently -_-" But it's not like we've got any progress indicators for fans. (An idea for the new site? Maybe it's just the OL in me speaking, but communication is key!) And comment #4 you brought on yourself for that cryptic comment you posted on the poll. XD

I know every one of our staff is working hard to give the leechers great releases, so it just aggravates me to see these shallow comments when I'm stressed. I wrote this up after I came back from the Company's site (any kind of shounen scanlation breeds faggotty comments.) And I think it's generally much easier for me to be overly-defensive whenever a leecher leaves a comment just because the lovely person on the other end IS a leecher. As xdeathcat said, it's not just 'thank you for your loving support'. It's 'thanks for your loving support AND leeching.'  :goodmood:

I'm a newb myself, Darselo, and I don't feel like there's some kind of "graduation" from being a leecher and a scanlator. The only thing that separates these two 'categories' is just that you CHOSE to make a difference. one week or five years, it still means the same thing. Shameless is me D;
As to your other points, I think Nicole is doing a splendid job at communicating with them. (Xye hasn't even made a definite announcement about the new site to US, how can we notify the leechers? XD lol)
Min's comment is horrible in isolation, but the "good luck on your exams" is much needed. At least Iteza understood what she meant >_> I'll be first to say that I suck at spending more than two seconds reading a comment. Werr would be second.

Today was a good day. In fact, the weather was decently cold even though it was already summer, and I had just returned from a wonderful clothing (and candle - Yay for candles!!) sale. But as I finally sat down in front of my shiny laptop, what did I see? I briefly checked our website's updated news today, and in big bold italic letters, it screamed "DON'T!" ( http://ourtranscendence.com/ ) Which convinced me it was the Apocalypse for a few moments. Or maybe our staff headquarters had been overrun with termite-ant mutant clones again?? What ELSE could possibly make Nicole, our Nicole, the one who never raises her voice even when I'm ready to drill holes into my desk, scream?! THOSE THINGS. The leechers, they had returned with their most destructive weapon: Whining.

OK, OK, maybe it wasn't that dramatic. But it was obvious that I had to return as head ranter of Transcendence. Because my day is now effectively ruined, you- you- you STRAWBERRY POPTARTS D:<

@Lily- ROTFL!  You always know how to make me laugh away my troubles!  And you say the sweetest things!  Although I must admit that when I did the last update I wasn't trying to communicate screaming with the "Don't!"...it was more "Let's make sure they cannot POSSIBLY miss this!"  Regarding the misspellings in the comments, I wouldn't latch onto that because in most cases it is just shorthand and is perfectly acceptable.  You should see some of my text messages...you wouldn't believe a Grammar Nazi would do such a thing, but it's for the sake of saving time.

@Darselo- To be honest, I have often thought about doing updates like you are describing and although it is possible from a technical standpoint, it is not something I would be able to keep up with.  I have a hard enough time keeping my own records as Archivist updated and I have 3 chapters of Ardour I need to Pr (I actually haven't Pr'd in a good while...).  I also get the feeling that even if we did that it wouldn't stop the whining.  Plus there is a long explanation regarding the release process that would make such disclosure undesirable that I don't want to get into right now (sorry!).

I AM thinking about making a guide about what goes into scanlating a chapter and showing how hours add up quickly, but I don't think the whiners are going to read it...

The other problem with all this is that scanlation isn't my only hobby; I have MANY others!  That and I have a full time job this summer...

Oh my gosh, I think I might have figured out why the leecher comments are increasing: it's summer break!  People have more time to read manga and surf the web and leave comments!  This is no excuse, of course, but it does allow for the hope that it won't last forever...

Another thing I was thinking about is that the news posts eventually disappear due to new posts, so we may need to have a little comment on the home page that stays there permanently.  Maybe on ALL the pages...

And I wonder how/if the amounts of annoying comments differ amongst scanlation groups...

For example, popular shounen groups? XD Oh, boys. Remember dattebayo with their fake sub releases? I laughed my ass off everytime the whiners came with their angry comments after they were screwed (and cried b/c the staff was srsly a bunch of trolls) Still, now that they're dead, I sob in pain.

I know that some leechers might not have a well functioning brain or the conscience to understand the workload we have to do in order to release. But given that we are indeed a Scanlation Group... those kind of comment are expected. No one enjoys them and you can't help it because somewhere on the internet there will always be an idiot out of 3 people. All we can do is basically ignore those comments since they are literally useless and a waste of time and energy to read. Plus getting annoyed by those kind of people is not worth it. Just let them cry until they dry out and die. :D

I've been gone for a few weeks, and when I returned, I expected to find the forums in order with millions of supportive fans NOT trying to murder us. But wrong I am. Oh, wrongity wrong I am.

Before I have been overly defensive about comments from leechers that could be interpreted as ignorant, but these comments that litter our message box are not just ignorant, but they hold a level of obvious animosity that I cannot ignore. And if any of the staffers here can just ignore such vile comments, well...let's just say I would look at them with that expression I have when I'm eating sour mango pudding.
I've recorded the comments here for all to view. I do not feel there is a necessity for me to respond since these comments are so inappropriate that there are already responses to them.

But more than anything, I beg you people, Xye, Nicole, anyone. Can't we at least write an announcement telling all our readers how we feel about these comments and make it clear that such behavior on our website is not ok? The staffers here work so hard to produce HQ releases, and these blind faggots can't see the difference between Viz, us, and the dicks behind D&F scans.
If we're not appreciated, there's no need to even continue scanlating this crap. (Poor BB... *pats its wittle head* >_<) Our motivation is sagging, and an endless pile of hate is not making me want to come back anymore than a pile of shit outside of my doorstep makes me want to leave my house. We might as well just release 10 fake BB chapters all at once just to troll with them. I'm serious about that, they deserve it.
