Title: Guideline: TLC
Post by: charmy on November 27, 2010, 11:13
A guideline for TLCs:
1.   You will be checking on the accuracy of the translations mainly, so you don't have to focus so much on the grammar and sentence structure. (Leave those to the PRs XD)
2.   Amend only when necessary. You may change wrongly translated words, or add in certain words which are important but has not been included in the translations (or sometimes called 'eaten up' words).
3.   You can give useful suggestions and comments about your buddy's work to help him/her improve, but remember to say them in a nice way. Translating is not an easy task considering how we can't train translators like how we do with editors and QCers. I'm sure you understand that too.
4.   Encouragement works wonders! So don't forget to point out your buddy's strengths too! It would really make their day. ^__^
5.   You might also want to include certain tips from your experience in translating which might help.

The translation test package xdeathcat is sending to the new recruits includes:
1)   5 test pages set by xdeathcat (it will be changed every now and then)
2)   A translator's guide
3)   A READ ME file

Here's the link to the guide:

and READ ME file:

You might want to take a look... (:

Thank you!
