...The BIG question, guys!
Within our scanlation group... do you like anime better or manga?

I feel that anime is more loved by manga all in all, but what about in Transcendence?

Omg... sorry. Was too exhausted... five hours of sleep, and 18 hours of torture.

i meant manga...because sometimes..the anime don't finish the entire series, and cut off from a certain part in the manga.... and its always S1 S2 S3 and look at the image of ghost....so horrible colouring!

Hmm... In typical manga > anime.

But when you have an actual good series (original anime or ones based on novels usually) they can be very good. Too bad many series, now in particular, do too many ecchi harem fanservice garbage. Very few solid anime with good story, characters or animation.
Title: Re: Manga or Anime?
Post by: Disturbance on October 10, 2010, 12:29
yep.
because of fanservice...kind of pity the poor folks who have to create the animation from scratch.
maybe thats why the older animes stick more to the plot more, compared to the new ones.

personally i'd prefer manga. because there ain't any fillers! :D and partly because it's like the 'real' storyline. Sometimes anime cuts of certain scenes and some even deviates from the original story. yea. but sometimes if i'm lazy to read the whole series, i'd just watch the anime to get the gist since it definitely takes less time to watch than to read. xD if i really like it very much, i would read the manga after that. haha. yup.

oh yea another thing is that in mangas, you sort of like get to imagine a little more how the characters would be acting like, their voices, the shades of their hair etc. Whereas animes have already pre-determined pretty much all of these things... so if you dont like what they animated, then well. D: if you do, then good for you.

yup.

I don't know, at most manga chapters are 1:1 (1 anime episode : 1 manga chapter) usually though, 1 anime episode is more than a chapter. And it is definitely faster for me to read a manga chapter as opposed to watching the anime ;/

I often don't have that much interest in anime is because I've already read a lot of the source material (manga based anime). I get bored when the anime follows a manga like glue, it's like reading the manga again, and I'd rather find some new stuff. That's why I typically like original series or ones based on novels, since it's like watching a fresh story.

There is also the other part where I'll look at an anime and remember the source material being something retarded.

Oh, poor anime.  :=X:

Hmm... If I had to say, I think that manga is the best because you can read it at your own pace. And each chapter is conveniently split so that it takes no more than 5 minutes to read while it takes 30 minutes to watch one anime episode.

Since then, I can't get enough.. And because of the fact that animes are from manga, I decided to read manga instead.. hahaha..
And because I've already watched the anime that I really like, now there's nothing left..
My favorite anime is Kaichou wa Maid sama..

Title: Re: Manga or Anime?
Post by: Beth on July 04, 2011, 17:39
I think that's, becasue Anime is a totally different ninja skill. You have be able to push the pause button, hide the tab, and act as if you were doing whatever was on the new tab. The problem is, if you parents get's suspious, of what's in your menu bar; your done for. So, it's best to close the anime tab, which is causes the other problem... you have to wait for the full thing to load again and then you have to remember where you were  :crywithno:. So, in conclusion  :bingo:, I'm going to have to go with you... it doesn't really work with Anime. But, on the positive side, it's just as well it's that way, and not the other way around, because manga is so much better than anime  *skip!!!!

Title: Re: Manga or Anime?

I would say manga more than anime (: because:
- THE DRAWINGS ARE SOOOO MUCH BETTER!!!!!
- THE DETAILS ARE NOT IN ANIME!!!!
- ANIMES (is that le plural??) USUALLY CHANGE THE STORYLINE OF THE ORIGINAL MANGA/STOP SHORT!!!! e.g. vampire knight ><
Title: Re: Manga or Anime?
Post by: Miki on May 07, 2012, 10:31
I always read the manga first, and try to find if there's an anime  :=D:
There are bigger chances for me to come across something I like when reading mangas.  :=X: Some mangas that I really love have no anime adaptations e.g Dengeki Daisy, Beast Master, Magico, Black Bird, Watashi ni Shinasai or the anime left me hanging e.g Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, Uta no Prince-sama, Kuroshitsuji, The World God Only Knows... what the heck... ALL OF THE ANIMES I WATCHED  :=X:
The only thing why I continue to watch anime is that, I love to hear the voices of my favorite characters, sometimes I even make challenges with my sister on who gets the voice right. It's where me and sister try to guess the voice actor of a character without actually hearing it first. After making our guesses, we watch the anime and see who got the correct answer.. so far.. I got 13 wins out of 30 animes we watched  :=D: Mostly my guesses were Ono Daisuke, Takehito Koyasu,  Yuuichi Nakamura...
Title: Re: Manga or Anime?
Post by: `Roze` on May 07, 2012, 17:00
That's a hard one! I think I'm torn in between.

In the manga sometimes I don't see or realize a lot of foreshadowing our hints. Like in Vampire Knight I didn't understand the whole "ba-dump" and why Zero was hidding behind corners covering his face and stuff. xD I finally realized when I watched the anime what was going on.

A lot of times the anime will make the art look a little better depending on the manga. For example I think Soul Eater's manga's art SUCKS. So I think the anime does it justice.

Manga, without a doubt.

Anime just tends to bore me....
Unless the story is so good I want to continue watching it.
I don't want to if I read the manga already, then I just get annoyed by the changes and stuff...

So manga. Love it. Live it.  :woohehe:

Mmm... I'd go with manga for shoujo stories and anime for the more shounen series. Primarily those with amazing fight scenes (trying to decipher the awesomeness of a final move in all the jagged lines of ink takes away from the coolness, imo).

So... both! \o/

:goodjob:  That's part of my answer, especially the bit about the awesomeness of a kick though being about to imagine it is great as well.

It also depends; I was pulled into this world when I accidentally bought HYD, thinking it was a drama but it was the anime and then watching all 50-something episodes before going out to buy all 30-something volumes of the manga a few weeks later. But then I got into the Rounin Kenshin and Skip Beat anime after reading the printed copy. Then I got into the Saiunkoku Monogatari light novels because of the anime ...

It depends is what I am saying.  :=D:
Title: Re: Manga or Anime?
Post by: rachkelly on November 26, 2012, 05:02
well i'm going to awake the sleeping manga VS anime topic. whatever :P

I prefer manga because i find it more expressive and usually much more straight to the point. anime has that way of using fillers all the time which makes me incredibly mad. and manga is usually more in depth when developing characters, relations and intimacy is concerned. obviously the visual effect of an anime is much more powerful because of the colours and movement, but then again, it always comes flat when the subjects i mentioned above are concerned. when i remember some animes /OVAS i've seen of smut mangas i get so upset, dear lord (i.e. sensual phrase, kamikaze kaitou jeanne, marmalade boy, everyone of them really, the list is endless!) ....  :noway:

just my two cents :)
Title: Re: Manga or Anime?
Post by: Angel~ on December 23, 2012, 06:33
I will keep it awake for you (:

As I have mentioned before, I prefer manga, but anime can be good as well, but those are the exceptions.
What really annoys me in some animes is that whenever they attack (I'm talking shounen now) that they always repeat the same stupid line with the same stupid tune. It takes too damn long!!! Let me see the destruction already!!! Or when they freeze the image and move around the couple forever on a what they think is a romantic tune... Yuck. And so on and so forth.

Manga for life!
Title: Re: Manga or Anime?
Post by: Samu on January 02, 2013, 10:38
I prefer manga.  :=X:

Although it's nice to see everything in colour with the anime, the manga is usually more detailed. Sometimes the anime strays so far from the storyline that was given in the manga that it makes me want to throw myself off a cliff (*cough* shugo chara). Also, most manga that get turned into anime don't usually continue after season one, which causes the makers to have to come up with some sort of happy ending for the season without even addressing many of the major plot points.

It's also much more likely for me to finish manga than it is anime since I can go at my own pace and don't have to sit through around 24 episodes that are 20 minutes long apiece.

Another one of my main issues with anime is that I have to hide and watch it because my earphones suck and noise can be heard from them easily (especially when characters randomly shout in anime). When I read manga I can just curl up on the couch without worries. x3
